Change return value to int to propagate errors from gamma_set,
and remove start parameter. Updates always use the full size,
and some drivers even ignore the start parameter altogether.
This is needed for atomic drivers, where an atomic commit can
fail with -EINTR or -ENOMEM and should be restarted. This is already
and issue for drm_atomic_helper_legacy_set_gamma, which this patch
fixes up.

drm_gem_object_lookup() has never required the drm_device for its file
local translation of the user handle to the GEM object. Let's remove the
unused parameter and save some space.

Done with coccinelle for the most part. However, it thinks '...' is
part of the semantic patch, so I put an 'int DOTDOTDOT' placeholder

Due to a missing initialization there was no way to map fbdev memory.
Thus for example using the Xserver with the fbdev driver failed.
This fix adds initialization for fix.smem_start and fix.smem_len
in the fb_info structure, which fixes this problem.

Just a bit of OCD cleanup on headers - this function isn't the core
interface any more but just a helper for drivers who haven't yet
transitioned to universal planes. Put the declaration at the right
spot and sprinkle necessary #includes over all drivers.
Maybe this helps to encourage driver maintainers to do the switch.

The translation from the X driver to the KMS one typo'ed a couple
of array indices, causing the HW cursor to look weird (blocky with
leaking edge colors). This fixes it.

This is the initial attempt at porting the DP501 code from the userspace
driver,

this should really be exposed as another encoder/connector that is cloneable
v0.2:
init 3rd tx properly,
add scratch reduction of VRAM size
backup firmware properly.

This syncs up the mode code from the X.org driver upstream,
and adds the mode validation step for hw that doesn't have
widescreen.

In struct drm_display_mode crtc_hdisplay and crtc_vdisplay are holding
the crtc parameters after mode fixup. For validation we need hdisplay and

Many drm connectors do not need mode validation.
The patch makes this callback optional and removes dumb implementations.

Now that CRTC's have a primary plane, there's no need to track the
framebuffer in the CRTC. Replace all references to the CRTC fb with the
primary plane's fb.
This patch was generated by the Coccinelle semantic patching tool using

Pull drm merge (part 1) from Dave Airlie:
"So first of all my tree and uapi stuff has a conflict mess, its my
fault as the nouveau stuff didn't hit -next as were trying to rebase
regressions out of it before we merged.
Highlights:
- SH mobile modesetting driver and associated helpers
- some DRM core documentation
- i915 modesetting rework, haswell hdmi, haswell and vlv fixes, write
combined pte writing, ilk rc6 support,
- nouveau: major driver rework into a hw core driver, makes features
like SLI a lot saner to implement,
- psb: add eDP/DP support for Cedarview
- radeon: 2 layer page tables, async VM pte updates, better PLL
selection for > 2 screens, better ACPI interactions
The rest is general grab bag of fixes.
So why part 1? well I have the exynos pull req which came in a bit
late but was waiting for me to do something they shouldn't have and it
looks fairly safe, and David Howells has some more header cleanups
he'd like me to pull, that seem like a good idea, but I'd like to get
this merge out of the way so -next dosen't get blocked."

But that failed to solve the entire problem. To avoid pushing out
further -nightly branch to our QA where this is broken, do the
backmerge and manually add the stuff git adds to -next from the patch
in -fixes.
Note that this doesn't show up in git's merge diff (and hence is also
not handled by git rerere), which adds to the reasons why I'd like to
fix this with a verbose backmerge. The git merge diff only shows a
bunch of trivial conflicts of the "code changed in lines next to each
another" kind.

This is the initial driver for the Aspeed Technologies chips found in
servers. This driver supports the AST 2000, 2100, 2200, 2150 and 2300. It
doesn't support the AST11xx due to lack of hw to test it on, and them requiring
different codepaths.
This driver is intended to be used with xf86-video-modesetting in userspace.
This driver has a slightly different design than other KMS drivers, but
future server chips will probably share similiar setup. As these GPUs commonly
have low video RAM, it doesn't make sense to put the kms console in VRAM
always. This driver places the kms console into system RAM, and does dirty
updates to a copy in video RAM. When userspace sets a new scanout buffer,
it forcefully evicts the video RAM console, and X can create a framebuffer
that can use all of of video RAM.
This driver uses TTM but in a very simple fashion to control the eviction
to system RAM of the console, and multiple servers.
