2010-12-29[media] ir-core: more cleanups of ir-functions.cDavid Härdeman
cx88 only depends on VIDEO_IR because it needs ir_extract_bits(). Move that function to ir-core.h and make it inline. Lots of drivers had dependencies on VIDEO_IR when they really wanted IR_CORE. The only remaining drivers to depend on VIDEO_IR are bt8xx and saa7134 (ir_rc5_timer_end is the only function exported by ir-functions). Rename VIDEO_IR -> IR_LEGACY to give a hint to anyone writing or converting drivers to IR_CORE that they do not want a dependency on IR_LEGACY. 2008-12-16V4L/DVB (9885): drivers/media Kconfig's: fix bugzilla #12204Mauro Carvalho Chehab
When the tuner modules were moved to common/tuners, a separate customize option were added for tuners. However, the automatic selection of the tuners were still using the older option. This causes that the automatic selection to fail, if DVB_FE_CUSTOMISE is selected. Also, since those tuners are now under MEDIA_TUNER_CUSTOMIZE menu, if you unset MEDIA_TUNER_CUSTOMIZE, you can't manually select the tuners. This patch fixes this error by replacing DVB_FE_CUSTOMISE by MEDIA_TUNER_CUSTOMIZE on all places were a tuner is selected. The patch were generated by this small script: for i in `find drivers/media -name Kconfig`; do cat $i|perl -ne 's/(MEDIA_TUNER.*)DVB_FE_CUSTOMISE/\1MEDIA_TUNER_CUSTOMIZE/; print $_' >a mv a $i done Also, manually reordered the tuner entries. Since: 1) FW_LOADER is defined as: config FW_LOADER tristate "Userspace firmware loading support" depends on HOTPLUG 2) several V4L/DVB driver just selects it; 3) select is not smart enough to auto-select HOTPLUG, if select FW_LOADER. So, All drivers that select FW_LOADER should also depend on HOTPLUG. An easier solution (for the end-user perspective) would be to "select HOTPLUG". However, live is not simple. 2008-01-25V4L/DVB (6508): ttpci: Rework Kconfig menus and MakefileTrent Piepho
The ttpci Kconfig file has bugs that cause it to fail in certain Kconfig situations. The basic problem is that it selects certain drivers, but does not depend on the dependencies of those drivers. See http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.video4linux/35072 Using the Kconfig file also has some annoyances. For instance one can't turn off AV7110 support unless you go down several options and first turn off budget-patch support. Normally user selectable drivers are not forced on like this. The "AV7110 cards with Budget Patch" option is disabled if "Budget cards" isn't on. Normally a driver appears nested under a driver it depends on, but since drivers that don't depend on "Budget cards" are between the two options, the config programs can't display the tree correctly. The Makefile has an issue too. Some modules, ttpci-eeprom and budget-core, appear in the Makefile under several different config symbols. If more than one of these symbols is on, they will get added the to list of objects multiple times. The normal convention is to have a config symbol just the common object(s) and have the users of the that object either depend on or select that config symbol. This patch fixes all these issues. ttpci-eepom is under a new config symbol, and so is the budget-core module. The four different budget card types appear as sub-drivers under a main "SAA7146 DVB cards" option. Turning on budget-patch doesn't force AV7110. Drivers using SAA7146_VV have the necessary VIDEO_DEV dependency, so that it isn't possible to select SAA7146_VV without V4L being on. 2007-04-27V4L/DVB (5361): Dvb-pll: Fix Kconfig files and allow dvb-pll to be optionalTrent Piepho
A number of drivers selected DVB_PLL when they did not need it, and some that did need it did not select it. The DVB_PLL option is given a name and help text, so that it will show up in the config menu. DVB_PLL support can be turned on if an out-of-tree driver needs it. The standard dvb fe customization support is added to dvb-pll.h. Since all modules which select DVB_PLL do so unconditionally, it is not possible to turn dvb-pll off when an enabled module selects it, unlike most of the other frontend/tuner drivers. This is because the users of dvb-pll have static references to dvb-pll symbols other than the attach function. If these references are removed, then dvb-pll will be disablable as the other frontend/tuner drivers are. This converts the budget-ci driver so that it uses ir-common for some of its IR processing. In particular, the keymap for the Nova-T (sub 13c2:1011) is switched to the Hauppauge grey/black keymap, of which the keys on the supplied R808 remote control form a subset. The old budget-ci keymap is moved to ir-keymaps.c and is used for other remotes. The debounce logic for buggy remotes (i.e. Zenith) is made conditional the new debounce parameter and defaults to off (so that repeat keypresses aren't ignored for all working remotes). Some parts are based on Darren Salt's dvb-ir patchset. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
