The Remote Controller subsystem is meant to be used not only by Infra Red but also for similar types of Remote Controllers. The core is not specific to Infra Red. As such, rename: - ir-core.h to rc-core.h - IR_CORE to RC_CORE - namespace inside rc-core.c/rc-core.h To be consistent with the other changes. No functional change on this patch. 2010-12-29[media] ir-core: more cleanups of ir-functions.cDavid Härdeman
cx88 only depends on VIDEO_IR because it needs ir_extract_bits(). Move that function to ir-core.h and make it inline. Lots of drivers had dependencies on VIDEO_IR when they really wanted IR_CORE. The only remaining drivers to depend on VIDEO_IR are bt8xx and saa7134 (ir_rc5_timer_end is the only function exported by ir-functions). Rename VIDEO_IR -> IR_LEGACY to give a hint to anyone writing or converting drivers to IR_CORE that they do not want a dependency on IR_LEGACY. 2010-12-29[media] ir-core: convert drivers/media/video/cx88 to ir-coreDavid Härdeman
This patch converts the cx88 driver (for sampling hw) to use the decoders provided by ir-core instead of the separate ones provided by ir-functions (and gets rid of those). The value for MO_DDS_IO had a comment saying it corresponded to a 4kHz samplerate. That comment was unfortunately misleading. The actual samplerate was something like 3250Hz. The current value has been derived by analyzing the elapsed time between interrupts for different values (knowing that each interrupt corresponds to 32 samples). There are several Kconfig items using CUSTOMIZE. Yet, most use the English writing CUSTOMISE. This generates lots of trouble, because people sometimes type the Kbuild item different. Let's standardise every occurrence using the same syntax. As Randy Dunlap <randy.dunlap@oracle.com> reported, cx88 has some compilation issues: drivers/built-in.o: In function `cx88_call_i2c_clients': (.text+0x20af17): undefined reference to `videobuf_dvb_get_frontend' drivers/built-in.o: In function `cx8802_probe': cx88-mpeg.c:(.devinit.text+0x268c4): undefined reference to `videobuf_dvb_alloc_frontend' cx88-mpeg.c:(.devinit.text+0x268ea): undefined reference to `videobuf_dvb_dealloc_frontends' With those configs: CONFIG_VIDEO_CX88=y CONFIG_VIDEO_CX88_BLACKBIRD=y CONFIG_VIDEO_CX88_DVB=m CONFIG_DVB_CORE=m After carefully examining the code, with the current code, several cx88 drivers (cx8800, cx8802, cx88_dvb and cx88_blackbird) should be compiled as a module, if one of them is marked as such. Just fixing Kconfig could create a very complex set of rules. Also, this hides a problem with the current approach where the dvb functionality weren't confined inside dvb module. What happens is that: - cx88-i2c (part of cx8800) has some special rules if DVB; - cx88-mpeg (cx8802 module) has also part of DVB init code; - cx88-dvb has the rest of the dvb code; - cx88-blackbird can be used with cx88-mpeg, having cx88-dvb or not. So, instead of doing some tricks at Kconfig and wait for a next breakage, this patch moves the dvb code inside cx88-i2c and cx88-mpeg into cx88-dvb. Another problem is that cx8802 were being compiled, even without cx88-dvb and cx88-blackbird modules. When the tuner modules were moved to common/tuners, a separate customize option were added for tuners. However, the automatic selection of the tuners were still using the older option. This causes that the automatic selection to fail, if DVB_FE_CUSTOMISE is selected. Also, since those tuners are now under MEDIA_TUNER_CUSTOMIZE menu, if you unset MEDIA_TUNER_CUSTOMIZE, you can't manually select the tuners. This patch fixes this error by replacing DVB_FE_CUSTOMISE by MEDIA_TUNER_CUSTOMIZE on all places were a tuner is selected. PCI-dependent videobuf_foo methods were renamed as videobuf_pci_foo. Also, videobuf_dmabuf is now part of videobuf-dma-sg private struct. So, to access it, a subroutine call is needed. This patch renames all occurences of those function calls to be consistent with the video-buf split. 2007-04-27V4L/DVB (5363): Dvb: Remove lgh06xf driverTrent Piepho
The code of the dvb-pll driver and the lgh06xf driver is nearly identical. The main difference is that the lgh06xf driver would set the AGC TOP value on every tune call. The dvb-pll driver now has the ability to set the AGC TOP when the front-end device is opened, which is a better way to go about it. By using this ability of dvb-pll, the lgh06xf driver is made unnecessary. There is one other difference. dvb-pll will probe for the presence of an I2C pll chip by doing a one byte read, the lgh06xf driver did not do this. In some devices the PLL is not reachable over I2C at the timer the tuner is attached. Some more initialization, such as firmware loading, must take place first. None of the devices using a LG-H06xF should have this problem. This patch creates a new atsc tuner module for the LG TDVS-H06xF ATSC tuners, called lgh06xf. The purpose of this change is to reduce some duplicated code, and to allow the lgh06xf tuner code to take advantage of dvb_attach(). 2006-03-18[PATCH] Kconfig: swap VIDEO_CX88_ALSA and VIDEO_CX88_DVBMichael Krufky
VIDEO_CX88_ALSA should not be between VIDEO_CX88_DVB and VIDEO_CX88_DVB_ALL_FRONTENDS When cx88-alsa was added to cx88/Kconfig, it was added in between VIDEO_CX88_DVB and VIDEO_CX88_DVB_ALL_FRONTENDS. This caused undesireable effects to the appearance of the menu options in menuconfig. This fix reorders cx88-alsa and cx88-dvb in Kconfig, to match saa7134, and restore the correct menuconfig appearance. These boards can be identified by having PCI id 1471:8801 or 1471:8811. - Increased DMA buffer from 512 to 4096 seems to fix audio distortion. - Existing audio DMA uses conflict with cx88-alsa.
