2011-05-19SSB: Change fallback sprom to callback mechanism.Hauke Mehrtens
Some embedded devices like the Netgear WNDR3300 have two SSB based cards without an own sprom on the pci bus. We have to provide two different fallback sproms for these and this was not possible with the old solution. In the bcm47xx architecture the sprom data is stored in the nvram in the main flash storage. The architecture code will be able to fill the sprom with the stored data based on the bus where the device was found. The bcm63xx code should do the same thing as before, just using the new API. 2011-05-11ssb: update list of devices supporting multiple 80211 coresRafał Miłecki
Some of the BCM43xx chips contain cores that are attached to the SSB, but are inactive as they do not connect to the external environment. These must not be registered. Several of these types are handled in driver ssb; however, the specific case of an inactive 802.11 cores is now treated in b43 and b43legacy. Although the current setup works, this minor change will place all such workarounds in ssb, and simplify the code in drivers b43 and b43legacy. 2011-01-20kconfig: rename CONFIG_EMBEDDED to CONFIG_EXPERTDavid Rientjes
The meaning of CONFIG_EMBEDDED has long since been obsoleted; the option is used to configure any non-standard kernel with a much larger scope than only small devices. This patch renames the option to CONFIG_EXPERT in init/Kconfig and fixes references to the option throughout the kernel. A new CONFIG_EMBEDDED option is added that automatically selects CONFIG_EXPERT when enabled and can be used in the future to isolate options that should only be considered for embedded systems (RISC architectures, SLOB, etc). Calling the option "EXPERT" more accurately represents its intention: only expert users who understand the impact of the configuration changes they are making should enable it. 2011-01-10ssb: Ignore dangling ethernet cores on wireless devicesMichael Büsch
Some Broadcom based wireless devices contain dangling ethernet cores. This triggers the ssb probing mechanism and tries to load the b44 driver on this core. Ignore the dangling core in the ssb core scanning code to avoid access to the core and failure of b44 probing. 2010-11-15ssb: Clear RETRY_TIMEOUT in PCI Configuration for normal devicesLarry Finger
MMIO log traces obtained using the Broadcom wl hybrid driver show that the RETRY_TIMEOUT register (0x41) in PCI configuration space is cleared if non-zero. Similar code found in other drivers such as ipw2100 show this operation is needed to keep PCI Tx retries from interfering with C3 CPU state. There are no known cases where omission of this code has caused a problem, but this patch is offered just in case such a situation occurs. pcmcia_enable_device() now replaces pcmcia_request_configuration(). Instead of config_req_t, all necessary flags are either passed as a parameter to pcmcia_enable_device(), or (in rare circumstances) set in struct pcmcia_device -> flags. 2010-06-04ssb: add dma_dev to ssb_device structureFUJITA Tomonori
Add dma_dev, a pointer to struct device, to struct ssb_device. We pass it to the generic DMA API with SSB_BUSTYPE_PCI and SSB_BUSTYPE_SSB. ssb_devices_register() sets up it properly. This is preparation for replacing the ssb bus specific DMA API (ssb_dma_*) with the generic DMA API. 2010-06-04ssb: Handle alternate SSPROM locationLarry Finger
In kernel Bugzilla #15825 (2 users), in a wireless mailing list thread (http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/b43-dev/2010-May/000124.html), and on a netbook owned by John Linville (http://marc.info/?l=linux-wireless&m=127230751408818&w=4), there are reports of ssb failing to detect an SPROM at the normal location. After studying the MMIO trace dump for the Broadcom wl driver, it was determined that the affected boxes had a relocated SPROM. This patch fixes all systems that have reported this problem.
