2021-03-30net: sched: validate stab valuesEric Dumazet
commit e323d865b36134e8c5c82c834df89109a5c60dab upstream. iproute2 package is well behaved, but malicious user space can provide illegal shift values and trigger UBSAN reports. Add stab parameter to red_check_params() to validate user input. syzbot reported: UBSAN: shift-out-of-bounds in ./include/net/red.h:312:18 shift exponent 111 is too large for 64-bit type 'long unsigned int' CPU: 1 PID: 14662 Comm: syz-executor.3 Not tainted 5.12.0-rc2-syzkaller #0 Hardware name: Google Google Compute Engine/Google Compute Engine, BIOS Google 01/01/2011 Call Trace: __dump_stack lib/dump_stack.c:79 [inline] dump_stack+0x141/0x1d7 lib/dump_stack.c:120 ubsan_epilogue+0xb/0x5a lib/ubsan.c:148 __ubsan_handle_shift_out_of_bounds.cold+0xb1/0x181 lib/ubsan.c:327 red_calc_qavg_from_idle_time include/net/red.h:312 [inline] red_calc_qavg include/net/red.h:353 [inline] choke_enqueue.cold+0x18/0x3dd net/sched/sch_choke.c:221 __dev_xmit_skb net/core/dev.c:3837 [inline] __dev_queue_xmit+0x1943/0x2e00 net/core/dev.c:4150 neigh_hh_output include/net/neighbour.h:499 [inline] neigh_output include/net/neighbour.h:508 [inline] ip6_finish_output2+0x911/0x1700 net/ipv6/ip6_output.c:117 __ip6_finish_output net/ipv6/ip6_output.c:182 [inline] __ip6_finish_output+0x4c1/0xe10 net/ipv6/ip6_output.c:161 ip6_finish_output+0x35/0x200 net/ipv6/ip6_output.c:192 NF_HOOK_COND include/linux/netfilter.h:290 [inline] ip6_output+0x1e4/0x530 net/ipv6/ip6_output.c:215 dst_output include/net/dst.h:448 [inline] NF_HOOK include/linux/netfilter.h:301 [inline] NF_HOOK include/linux/netfilter.h:295 [inline] ip6_xmit+0x127e/0x1eb0 net/ipv6/ip6_output.c:320 inet6_csk_xmit+0x358/0x630 net/ipv6/inet6_connection_sock.c:135 dccp_transmit_skb+0x973/0x12c0 net/dccp/output.c:138 dccp_send_reset+0x21b/0x2b0 net/dccp/output.c:535 dccp_finish_passive_close net/dccp/proto.c:123 [inline] dccp_finish_passive_close+0xed/0x140 net/dccp/proto.c:118 dccp_terminate_connection net/dccp/proto.c:958 [inline] dccp_close+0xb3c/0xe60 net/dccp/proto.c:1028 inet_release+0x12e/0x280 net/ipv4/af_inet.c:431 inet6_release+0x4c/0x70 net/ipv6/af_inet6.c:478 __sock_release+0xcd/0x280 net/socket.c:599 sock_close+0x18/0x20 net/socket.c:1258 __fput+0x288/0x920 fs/file_table.c:280 task_work_run+0xdd/0x1a0 kernel/task_work.c:140 tracehook_notify_resume include/linux/tracehook.h:189 [inline] Fixes: 8afa10cbe281 ("net_sched: red: Avoid illegal values") Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> Reported-by: syzbot <syzkaller@googlegroups.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2015-08-27net: sched: consolidate tc_classify{,_compat}Daniel Borkmann
For classifiers getting invoked via tc_classify(), we always need an extra function call into tc_classify_compat(), as both are being exported as symbols and tc_classify() itself doesn't do much except handling of reclassifications when tp->classify() returned with TC_ACT_RECLASSIFY. CBQ and ATM are the only qdiscs that directly call into tc_classify_compat(), all others use tc_classify(). When tc actions are being configured out in the kernel, tc_classify() effectively does nothing besides delegating. We could spare this layer and consolidate both functions. pktgen on single CPU constantly pushing skbs directly into the netif_receive_skb() path with a dummy classifier on ingress qdisc attached, improves slightly from 22.3Mpps to 23.1Mpps. 2014-09-22net: sched: shrink struct qdisc_skb_cb to 28 bytesEric Dumazet
We cannot make struct qdisc_skb_cb bigger without impacting IPoIB, or increasing skb->cb[] size. Commit e0f31d849867 ("flow_keys: Record IP layer protocol in skb_flow_dissect()") broke IPoIB. Only current offender is sch_choke, and this one do not need an absolutely precise flow key. If we store 17 bytes of flow key, its more than enough. (Its the actual size of flow_keys if it was a packed structure, but we might add new fields at the end of it later) Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> Fixes: e0f31d849867 ("flow_keys: Record IP layer protocol in skb_flow_dissect()") Signed-off-by: David S. 2014-09-13net: rcu-ify tcf_protoJohn Fastabend
rcu'ify tcf_proto this allows calling tc_classify() without holding any locks. Updaters are protected by RTNL. This patch prepares the core net_sched infrastracture for running the classifier/action chains without holding the qdisc lock however it does nothing to ensure cls_xxx and act_xxx types also work without locking. Additional patches are required to address the fall out. Signed-off-by: John Fastabend <john.r.fastabend@intel.com> Acked-by: Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2014-01-21random32: add prandom_u32_max and convert open coded usersDaniel Borkmann
Many functions have open coded a function that returns a random number in range [0,N-1]. Under the assumption that we have a PRNG such as taus113 with being well distributed in [0, ~0U] space, we can implement such a function as uword t = (n*m')>>32, where m' is a random number obtained from PRNG, n the right open interval border and t our resulting random number, with n,m',t in u32 universe. Lets go with Joe and simply call it prandom_u32_max(), although technically we have an right open interval endpoint, but that we have documented. Other users can further be migrated to the new prandom_u32_max() function later on; for now, we need to make sure to migrate reciprocal_divide() users for the reciprocal_divide() follow-up fixup since their function signatures are going to change. 2012-02-09net: Make qdisc_skb_cb upper size bound explicit.David S. Miller
Just like skb->cb[], so that qdisc_skb_cb can be encapsulated inside of other data structures. 2012-01-05net_sched: red: split red_parms into parms and varsEric Dumazet
This patch splits the red_parms structure into two components. One holding the RED 'constant' parameters, and one containing the variables. This permits a size reduction of GRED qdisc, and is a preliminary step to add an optional RED unit to SFQ. SFQRED will have a single red_parms structure shared by all flows, and a private red_vars per flow. 2011-12-09sch_red: generalize accurate MAX_P support to RED/GRED/CHOKEEric Dumazet
Now RED uses a Q0.32 number to store max_p (max probability), allow RED/GRED/CHOKE to use/report full resolution at config/dump time. Old tc binaries are non aware of new attributes, and still set/get Plog. New tc binary set/get both Plog and max_p for backward compatibility, they display "probability value" if they get max_p from new kernels. # tc -d qdisc show dev ... ... qdisc red 10: parent 1:1 limit 360Kb min 30Kb max 90Kb ecn ewma 5 probability 0.09 Scell_log 15 Make sure we avoid potential divides by 0 in reciprocal_value(), if (max_th - min_th) is big. 2011-02-02sched: CHOKe flow schedulerstephen hemminger
CHOKe ("CHOose and Kill" or "CHOose and Keep") is an alternative packet scheduler based on the Random Exponential Drop (RED) algorithm. The core idea is: For every packet arrival: Calculate Qave if (Qave < minth) Queue the new packet else Select randomly a packet from the queue if (both packets from same flow) then Drop both the packets else if (Qave > maxth) Drop packet else Admit packet with proability p (same as RED) See also: Rong Pan, Balaji Prabhakar, Konstantinos Psounis, "CHOKe: a stateless active queue management scheme for approximating fair bandwidth allocation", Proceeding of INFOCOM'2000, March 2000.
