2014-05-06ARM: OMAP2+: Add machine entry for dra72x devicesRajendra Nayak

2014-03-19ARM: OMAP2+: DT 'compatible' tweak for displaysTomi Valkeinen
As there is no common panel framework in the kernel, we have OMAP specific panel drivers. However, the DT data should be generic. This brings the issue that some other platform could use the same panels, and would need to create a driver with the same 'compatible' string as the OMAP driver. In the long run, we have to get a common panel framework. For the time being, this patch solves the issue: At early boot time, we go through the DT nodes looking for the panels the kernel supports for OMAP. For each found node, the 'compatible' string is prepended with "omapdss,", i.e. "sony,acx565akm" becomes "omapdss,sony,acx565akm". The OMAP display drivers all have "omapdss," at the beginning of their compatible field. This allows us to have generic DT data, but OMAP specific display drivers. 2014-03-19ARM: OMAP2+: add omapdss_init_of()Tomi Valkeinen
The OMAP display architecture requires a bunch of platform devices which are not created via .dts (for now). We also need to pass a few function pointers and the DSS hardware version from the arch code to omapdss driver. This patch adds omapdss_init_of() function, called from board-generic at init time, which handles those tasks. 2014-02-28ARM: OMAP2+: AM43x: Use gptimer as clocksourceRajendra Nayak
The SyncTimer in AM43x is clocked using the following two sources: 1) An inaccuarte 32k clock (CLK_32KHZ) derived from PER DPLL, causing system time to go slowly (~10% deviation). 2) external 32KHz RTC clock, which may not always be available on board like in the case of ePOS EVM Use gptimer as clocksource instead, as is done in the case of AM335x (which does not have a SyncTimer). With this, system time keeping works accurately. Signed-off-by: Rajendra Nayak <rnayak@ti.com> Signed-off-by: Lokesh Vutla <lokeshvutla@ti.com> Signed-off-by: Tony Lindgren <tony@atomide.com>

2014-01-08ARM: OMAP2+: board-generic: update SoC compatibility stringsNishanth Menon

2013-12-06ARM: OMAP2+: Fix the machine entry for am3517Nishanth Menon
The am3517 is wrongly booting as omap3 which means that the am3517 specific devices like Ethernet won't work when booted with device tree. Now with the new devices defined in am3517.dtsi, let's use that instead of the omap3.dtsi, and add a separate machine entry for am3517 so am3517-evm can use it. 2013-10-22ARM: OMAP2+: add missing lateinit hook for calling pm late initNishanth Menon
AM335x, AM43xx, OMAP5 and DRA7 have missing late init hook. Introduce SoC specific hook with a call to OMAP2+ generic lateinit hook. This allows the generic late initializations such as cpufreq hooks to be active. Based on out-of-tree patches that need to be introduced in mainline, this introduction allows us to provide the foundation for further SoC specific features as they are developed. There is a lot of redundancy in the definitions for the various system timers for OMAP2+ devices. 2012-11-02ARM: OMAP3: Add generic machine descriptor for boards with OMAP3 GP devicesJon Hunter
OMAP3 devices may or may not have security features enabled. Security enabled devices are known as high-secure (HS) and devices without security are known as general purpose (GP). Some OMAP3 boards, such as the OMAP3 beagle board, only use GP devices and for GP devices there is a 12th timer available on-chip that can operate at 32kHz. The clock for 12th timer is generated by an internal oscillator and is unique this timer. Boards such as the beagle board use this timer as a 32kHz based clock-events timer because early versions of the board had a hardware problem preventing them from using other on-chip timers clocked by a external 32kHz clock. When booting with device-tree all OMAP3 devices use timer 1 by default for the clock-events timer. Therefore, add a generic machine descriptor for boards with OMAP3 GP devices so that they can use the 12th timer as the clock-events timer instead of the default. 2012-09-12ARM: OMAP: Split plat/hardware.h, use local soc.h for omap2+Tony Lindgren
As the plat and mach includes need to disappear for single zImage work, we need to remove plat/hardware.h. Do this by splitting plat/hardware.h into omap1 and omap2+ specific files. The old plat/hardware.h already has omap1 only defines, so it gets moved to mach/hardware.h for omap1. For omap2+, we use the local soc.h that for now just includes the related SoC headers to keep this patch more readable. Note that the local soc.h still includes plat/cpu.h that can be dealt with in later patches. Let's also include plat/serial.h from common.h for all the board-*.c files. This allows making the include files local later on without patching these files again. Note that only minimal changes are done in this patch for the drivers/watchdog/omap_wdt.c driver to keep things compiling. Further patches are needed to eventually remove cpu_is_omap usage in the drivers. Also only minimal changes are done to sound/soc/omap/* to remove the unneeded includes and to define OMAP44XX_MCPDM_L3_BASE locally so there's no need to include omap44xx.h. While at it, also sort some of the includes in the standard way. 2012-06-05ARM: OMAP2+: am33xx: Add AM335XEVM machine supportAfzal Mohammed
This patch adds minimal support for AM335X machine init. During last merge window, two separate patches supporting am33xx machine init had been submitted, 1. Link to earlier Baseport patch submission (Legacy): http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-omap@vger.kernel.org/msg59325.html 2. Link to earlier DT based machine init support patch submission: http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-omap@vger.kernel.org/msg61398.html And both had got accepted at that time, but got missed during merge window. But now, since we have taken decision to make am33xx as a separate class and not to follow omap3 family, these patches needs to changes accordingly (only changes), - Combine both the patches, since early init and timer init used in board-generic.c file requires them. - Remove dependency on AM3517EVM, and only use DT approach for machine init. - Change the config option (as changed recently) CONFIG_SOC_OMAPAM33XX --> CONFIG_SOC_AM33XX Signed-off-by: Vaibhav Hiremath <hvaibhav@ti.com> Signed-off-by: Vaibhav Hiremath <hvaibhav@ti.com> Cc: Benoit Cousson <b-cousson@ti.com> Cc: Paul Walmsley <paul@pwsan.com> Signed-off-by: Tony Lindgren <tony@atomide.com>
