Also move QE stuff out of mpc85xx_mds_pic_init(). The diff is unreadable, but only because the code was so. ;-) It should be better now, and less indented. 2010-08-04powerpc/85xx: Fix booting for P1021MDS boardsAnton Vorontsov
P1021 processors have no dedicated ROM to store the QE microcode, so the fimrware is stored externally, and it is U-Boot responsibility to load it. It might be that the board is booting without QE, e.g. currently U-Boot doesn't support QE for P1021MDS boards, which means that QE isn't initialized, and so the board hangs early at boot. This patch fixes the issue by marking QE as disabled and checking the state in the probing code. U-Boot should fixup the state if it initialized the QE. 2009-07-29powerpc/85xx: Fix ethernet link detection on MPC8569E-MDS boardsAnton Vorontsov
Linux isn't able to detect link changes on ethernet ports that were used by U-Boot. This is because U-Boot wrongly clears interrupt polarity bit (INTPOL, 0x400) in the extended status register (EXT_SR, 0x1b) of Marvell PHYs. There is no easy way for PHY drivers to know IRQ line polarity (we could extract it from the device tree and pass it to phydevs, but that'll be quite a lot of work), so for now just reset the PHYs to their default states. Currently it doesn't matter where the mdio nodes are placed, but with power management support (i.e. when sleep = <> properties will take effect), mdio nodes placement will become important: mdio controller is a part of the ethernet block, so the mdio nodes should be placed correctly. Otherwise we may wrongly assume that MDIO controllers are available during sleep. The 8568 MDS needs some configuration changes to the PHY in order to work properly. These are done in the firmware, normally, but Linux shouldn't need to rely on the firmware running such things (someone could disable the PHY support in the firmware to save space, for instance). asm-powerpc/mpc85xx.h was really a hold over from arch/ppc. Now that more decoupling has occurred we can remove <asm/mpc85xx.h> and some of its legacy. 2007-10-08[POWERPC] QEIC: Implement pluggable handlers, fix MPIC cascadingAnton Vorontsov
set_irq_chained_handler overwrites MPIC's handle_irq function (handle_fasteoi_irq) thus MPIC never gets eoi event from the cascaded IRQ. This situation hangs MPIC on MPC8568E. To solve this problem efficiently, QEIC needs pluggable handlers, specific to the underlaying interrupt controller. Patch extends qe_ic_init() function to accept low and high interrupt handlers. To avoid #ifdefs, stack of interrupt handlers specified in the header file and functions are marked 'static inline', thus handlers are compiled-in only if actually used (in the board file). Another option would be to lookup for parent controller and automatically detect handlers (will waste text size because of never used handlers, so this option abolished). qe_ic_init() also changed in regard to support multiplexed high/low lines as found in MPC8568E-MDS, plus qe_ic_cascade_muxed_mpic() handler implemented appropriately. On the Freescale embedded (83xx, 85xx, 86xx) and a few of the discrete bridges (mpc10x, tsi108) use the new for_each_compatible_node() or for_each_node_by_type() to provide more exact matching when looking for PHBs in the device tree. That commit was a mistake from the start; I added mdio type to the bus scan list early on in my ucc_geth migrate to phylib development, which is just pure wrong (the ucc_geth_mii driver creates the mii bus and the PHY layer handles PHY enumeration without translation). This follows on from commit 77926826f301fbd8ed96d3cd9ff17a5b59560dfb: Revert "[POWERPC] Don't complain if size-cells == 0 in prom_parse()" which was basically trying to hide a symptom of the original mistake this revert fixes.
