2008-04-24[POWERPC] Raise the upper limit of NR_CPUS and move the pacas into the BSSTony Breeds
This adds the required functionality to fill in all pacas at runtime. 2008-04-02[POWERPC] 4xx: Create common ppc4xx_reset_system() in ppc4xx_soc.cStefan Roese
This patch creates a common system reset routine for all 40x and 44x systems. Previously only a 44x routine existed. But since this system reset via the debug control register is common for 40x and 44x let's share this code for all those platforms in ppc4xx_soc.c. This patch also enables CONFIG_4xx_SOC for all 40x and 44x platforms. Tested on Kilauea (405EX) and Canyonlands (440EX). 2008-03-10[POWERPC] 83xx: Make 83xx perfmon support selectableAndy Fleming
Not all e300 cores support the performance monitors, and the ones that don't will be confused by the mf/mtpmr instructions. This allows the support to be optional, so the 8349 can turn it off while the 8379 can turn it on. Sadly, those aren't config options, so it will be left to the defconfigs and the users to make that determination. 2008-02-14[POWERPC] Remove unused CONFIG_WANT_DEVICE_TREEGrant Likely
CONFIG_DEVICE_TREE was the only user of CONFIG_WANT_DEVICE_TREE but it was removed in commit id 25431333813686654907ab987fb5de10c10a16db (bootwrapper: Build multiple cuImages). This removes CONFIG_WANT_DEVICE_TREE from Kconfig and the defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>

2008-02-06[POWERPC] mpc512x: Basic platform supportJohn Rigby
512x is very similar to 83xx and most of this is patterned after code from 83xx. New platform: changed: arch/powerpc/Kconfig arch/powerpc/platforms/Kconfig arch/powerpc/platforms/Kconfig.cputype arch/powerpc/platforms/Makefile new: arch/powerpc/platforms/512x/* include/asm-powerpc/mpc512x.h Signed-off-by: John Rigby <jrigby@freescale.com> Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca>
2008-02-05[POWERPC] Made FSL Book-E PMC support more genericAndy Fleming
Some of the more recent e300 cores have the same performance monitor implementation as the e500. e300 isn't book-e, so the name isn't really appropriate. In preparation for e300 support, rename a bunch of fsl_booke things to say fsl_emb (Freescale Embedded Performance Monitors). 2008-01-28[POWERPC] 83xx: rework platform KconfigKumar Gala
* Allow multiple boards to be selected in a single build * Removed Kconfig option '83xx' which existed only for compat with arch/ppc * Removed Kconfig option 'PPC_MPC836x' since its not used * Renamed Kconfig option 'MPC834x' to 'PPC_MPC834x' to match others * Added a multiplatform 83xx defconfig (mpc83xx_defconfig). Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2008-01-28[POWERPC] 85xx: rework platform KconfigKumar Gala
* Allow multiple boards to be selected in a single build * Removed Kconfig option '85xx' which existed only for compat with arch/ppc * Added a multiplatform 85xx defconfig (mpc85xx_defconfig). This builds all 85xx boards except sbc8560 and stx_gp3 since these to boards have board specific ifdef in driver code that may break all other boards Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2007-12-23[POWERPC] 4xx: Add early udbg support for 40x processorsBenjamin Herrenschmidt
This adds some basic real mode based early udbg support for 40x in order to debug things more easily Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org> Signed-off-by: Josh Boyer <jwboyer@linux.vnet.ibm.com>
2007-10-19[POWERPC] 4xx: Split early debug output and early boot console for 44xValentine Barshak
Currently there's no way to enable early boot console on PowerPC 44x not specifying uart's physical address in kernel config, which is used for very early debug messages. This patch splits very early debug output (which needs uart physical address in kernel config) and early boot console (which searches for uarts in the device tree using find_legacy_serial_ports). We enable early boot console for all 44x processors, while (dangerous) early debug is user-selectable. 2007-10-16[POWERPC] rheap: Changes config mechanismSylvain Munaut
Instead of having in the makefile all the option that requires rheap, we define a configuration symbol and when needed we make sure it's selected. Signed-off-by: Sylvain Munaut <tnt@246tNt.com> Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca>
2007-09-22[POWERPC] add Kconfig option for optimizing for cellArnd Bergmann
Since the PPE on cell is an in-order core, it suffers significantly from wrong instruction scheduling. This adds a Kconfig option that enables passing -mtune=cell to gcc in order to generate object code that runs well on cell. 2007-06-29[POWERPC] move 82xx/83xx/86xx Kconfig options to platform selectionArnd Bergmann
The cores used in the MPC82xx/83xx/86xx embedded controllers are very similar to those in the 32 bit general-purpose processors, so it makes sense to treat them as the same CPU family. Choosing between the embedded platforms and the multiplatform code is now done in the platform menu, but functionally everything stays the same. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>
2007-06-14[POWERPC] Split out CPU specific options into a new Kconfig fileArnd Bergmann
A lot of the options in arch/powerpc/Kconfig deal with the CPU menu, and my next patches add more to them. Moving them to a new arch/powerpc/platforms/Kconfig.cputype file makes it easier to follow. There are no functional changes in here. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
