2009-06-15[CPUFREQ] cpumask: avoid playing with cpus_allowed in speedstep-ich.cRusty Russell
Impact: don't play with current's cpumask It's generally a very bad idea to mug some process's cpumask: it could legitimately and reasonably be changed by root, which could break us (if done before our code) or them (if we restore the wrong value). We use smp_call_function_single: this had the advantage of being more efficient, too. 2008-12-05[CPUFREQ] add to speedstep-lib additional fsb values for core processorsHerton Ronaldo Krzesinski
Add additional fsb values to pentium_core_get_frequency, from latest edition (September 2008) of Intel 64 and IA-32 Architectures Software Develper's Manual, Volume 3B: System Programming Guide, Part 2. Values added are to detect 800, 1067 and 1333 FSB types. Signed-off-by: Herton Ronaldo Krzesinski <herton@mandriva.com.br> Signed-off-by: Dave Jones <davej@redhat.com>
2007-11-20Revert "speedstep-lib.c: fix frequency multiplier for Pentium4 models 0&1"Zhao Yakui
For P4 model < 2, The MSR_FBC_REGISTER_ID ratio is undefined. Revert the commit that was added to handle that case, as it results in random MHz displayed. Something else will have to be done to properly handle model < 2. //commit 3e4159ab35c88aef5e063ba78796b277b762a30a //Author: matthias.christian <matthias.christian> //Date: Sat Feb 5 23:09:38 2005 +0000 // // [PATCH] speedstep-lib.c: fix frequency multiplier for Pentium4 models 0&1 // // The Pentium4 models 0&1 have a longer MSR_EBC_FREQUENCY_ID register as the // models 2&3, so the bit shift must be bigger. // // Signed-off-by: Matthias-Christian Ott <matthias.christian@tiscali.de> // Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@brodo.de> // Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> // Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org> // // BKrev: 42055232eWM-NgjhZVir44mp5GXktQ http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7186 Signed-off-by: Zhao Yakui <yakui.zhao@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
2007-10-19x86: convert cpuinfo_x86 array to a per_cpu arrayMike Travis
cpu_data is currently an array defined using NR_CPUS. This means that we overallocate since we will rarely really use maximum configured cpus. When NR_CPU count is raised to 4096 the size of cpu_data becomes 3,145,728 bytes. These changes were adopted from the sparc64 (and ia64) code. An additional field was added to cpuinfo_x86 to be a non-ambiguous cpu index. This corresponds to the index into a cpumask_t as well as the per_cpu index. It's used in various places like show_cpuinfo(). cpu_data is defined to be the boot_cpu_data structure for the NON-SMP case.
