2014-05-13MIPS/loongson2_cpufreq: Fix CPU clock rate settingAaro Koskinen
Loongson2 has been using (incorrectly) kHz for cpu_clk rate. This has been unnoticed, as loongson2_cpufreq was the only place where the rate was set/get. After commit 652ed95d5fa6074b3c4ea245deb0691f1acb6656 (cpufreq: introduce cpufreq_generic_get() routine) things however broke, and now loops_per_jiffy adjustments are incorrect (1000 times too long). The patch fixes this by changing cpu_clk rate to Hz. Signed-off-by: Aaro Koskinen <aaro.koskinen@iki.fi> Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Cc: Rafael J. 2014-04-07cpufreq: loongson2_cpufreq: don't declare local variable as staticViresh Kumar
Earlier commit: commit 652ed95d5fa6074b3c4ea245deb0691f1acb6656 Author: Viresh Kumar <viresh.kumar@linaro.org> Date: Thu Jan 9 20:38:43 2014 +0530 cpufreq: introduce cpufreq_generic_get() routine did some changes to driver and by mistake made cpuclk as a 'static' local variable, which wasn't actually required. 2014-03-12cpufreq: add 'freq_table' in struct cpufreq_policyViresh Kumar
freq table is not per CPU but per policy, so it makes more sense to keep it within struct cpufreq_policy instead of a per-cpu variable. This patch does it. Over that, there is no need to set policy->freq_table to NULL in ->exit(), as policy structure is going to be freed soon. 2014-01-17cpufreq: introduce cpufreq_generic_get() routineViresh Kumar
CPUFreq drivers that use clock frameworks interface,i.e. clk_get_rate(), to get CPUs clk rate, have similar sort of code used in most of them. This patch adds a generic ->get() which will do the same thing for them. All those drivers are required to now is to set .get to cpufreq_generic_get() and set their clk pointer in policy->clk during ->init(). 2013-10-31cpufreq: move freq change notifications to cpufreq coreViresh Kumar
Most of the drivers do following in their ->target_index() routines: struct cpufreq_freqs freqs; freqs.old = old freq... freqs.new = new freq... cpufreq_notify_transition(policy, &freqs, CPUFREQ_PRECHANGE); /* Change rate here */ cpufreq_notify_transition(policy, &freqs, CPUFREQ_POSTCHANGE); This is replicated over all cpufreq drivers today and there doesn't exists a good enough reason why this shouldn't be moved to cpufreq core instead. There are few special cases though, like exynos5440, which doesn't do everything on the call to ->target_index() routine and call some kind of bottom halves for doing this work, work/tasklet/etc.. They may continue doing notification from their own code as flag: CPUFREQ_ASYNC_NOTIFICATION is already set for them. All drivers are also modified in this patch to avoid breaking 'git bisect', as double notification would happen otherwise. 2013-10-25cpufreq: Implement light weight ->target_index() routineViresh Kumar
Currently, the prototype of cpufreq_drivers target routines is: int target(struct cpufreq_policy *policy, unsigned int target_freq, unsigned int relation); And most of the drivers call cpufreq_frequency_table_target() to get a valid index of their frequency table which is closest to the target_freq. And they don't use target_freq and relation after that. So, it makes sense to just do this work in cpufreq core before calling cpufreq_frequency_table_target() and simply pass index instead. But this can be done only with drivers which expose their frequency table with cpufreq core. For others we need to stick with the old prototype of target() until those drivers are converted to expose frequency tables. This patch implements the new light weight prototype for target_index() routine. It looks like this: int target_index(struct cpufreq_policy *policy, unsigned int index); CPUFreq core will call cpufreq_frequency_table_target() before calling this routine and pass index to it. Because CPUFreq core now requires to call routines present in freq_table.c CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_TABLE must be enabled all the time. This also marks target() interface as deprecated. So, that new drivers avoid using it. And Documentation is updated accordingly. It also converts existing .target() to newly defined light weight .target_index() routine for many driver. 2013-10-16cpufreq: loongson2: use cpufreq_generic_init()Viresh Kumar
Use generic cpufreq_generic_init() routine instead of replicating the same code here. This driver wasn't setting transition_latency and so is getting set to 0 by default. Lets mark it explicitly by calling the generic routine with transition_latency as 0. 2013-10-16cpufreq: loongson2: don't initialize part of policy set by coreViresh Kumar
Many common initializations of struct policy are moved to core now and hence this driver doesn't need to do it. This patch removes such code. Most recent of those changes is to call ->get() in the core after calling ->init(). 2013-10-16cpufreq: loongson2: Use generic cpufreq routinesViresh Kumar
Most of the CPUFreq drivers do similar things in .exit() and .verify() routines and .attr. So its better if we have generic routines for them which can be used by cpufreq drivers then. This patch uses these generic routines in the loongson2 driver. Cc: John Crispin <blogic@openwrt.org> Signed-off-by: Viresh Kumar <viresh.kumar@linaro.org> Signed-off-by: Rafael J. 2013-09-30cpufreq: loongson2: call cpufreq_frequency_table_put_attr()Viresh Kumar
Drivers which have an exit path must call cpufreq_frequency_table_put_attr() if they have called cpufreq_frequency_table_get_attr() in their init path. 2013-08-10cpufreq: Drop the owner field from struct cpufreq_driverViresh Kumar

2013-08-07cpufreq: loongson2: fix regression related to clock managementAaro Koskinen
Commit 42913c799 (MIPS: Loongson2: Use clk API instead of direct dereferences) broke the cpufreq functionality on Loongson2 boards: clk_set_rate() is called before the CPU frequency table is initialized, and therefore will always fail. Fix by moving the clk_set_rate() after the table initialization. Tested on Lemote FuLoong mini-PC. 2013-06-04cpufreq: rename index as driver_data in cpufreq_frequency_tableViresh Kumar
The "index" field of struct cpufreq_frequency_table was never an index and isn't used at all by the cpufreq core. It only is useful for cpufreq drivers for their internal purposes. Many people nowadays blindly set it in ascending order with the assumption that the core will use it, which is a mistake. Rename it to "driver_data" as that's what its purpose is. All of its users are updated accordingly. [rjw: Changelog] Signed-off-by: Viresh Kumar <viresh.kumar@linaro.org> Acked-by: Simon Horman <horms+renesas@verge.net.au> Signed-off-by: Rafael J.
