2011-03-21[media] saa7134: Properly report when a board doesn't have eepromMauro Carvalho Chehab
When a device is not detected, the driver prints a warning message. That's ok, except for the fact that, even on newer devices that have eeprom but aren't yet supported, it prints a message saying that the device doesn't have eeprom. Fix it by having a separate message for devices with eeprom, but not yet known by the driver. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>

2010-12-24media/video: explicitly flush request_module workTejun Heo
Video drivers request submodules using a work during probe and calls flush_scheduled_work() on exit to make sure the work is complete before being unloaded. This patch makes these drivers flush the work directly instead of using flush_scheduled_work(). While at it, relocate request_submodules() call in saa7134_initdev() right right before successful return as in other drivers to avoid failing after the work is scheduled and returning failure without the work still active. This is in preparation for the deprecation of flush_scheduled_work(). Signed-off-by: Tejun Heo <tj@kernel.org> Cc: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org>

2010-10-22[media] v4l: Remove hardcoded module names passed to v4l2_i2c_new_subdev*Laurent Pinchart
With the v4l2_i2c_new_subdev* functions now supporting loading modules based on modaliases, replace the hardcoded module name passed to those functions by NULL. All corresponding I2C modules have been checked, and all of them include a module aliases table with names corresponding to what the drivers modified here use. 2010-10-21V4L/DVB: videobuf: add queue argument to videobuf_waiton()Hans Verkuil
videobuf_waiton() must unlock and relock ext_lock if it has to wait. For that to happen it needs the videobuf_queue pointer. Don't attempt to unlock/relock q->ext_lock unless it was locked in the first place. vb->state has to be protected by a spinlock to be safe. This patch is based on code from Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>. 2010-08-02V4L/DVB: videobuf: Remove the videobuf_sg_dma_map/unmap functionsLaurent Pinchart
Instead of creating dirty wrappers around videobuf_dma_map/unmap that create a dummy videobuf_queue structure, modify videobuf_dma_map/unmap to take a device pointer argument and use it directly. The videobuf_sg_dma_map/unmap then become unused and can be removed. Signed-off-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>
2010-05-19V4L/DVB: saa7134: Add support for both positive and negative edge IRQMauro Carvalho Chehab
The code that enables IRQ for the Remote Controller on saa7134 is a little messy: it is outside saa7134-input, it checks if RC is GPIO based, and it mixes both serial raw decode with parallel reads from a hardware-based IR decoder. Also, currently, it doesn't allow to trigger both transition edges at GPIO16 and GPIO18 lines. A rework on the code is needed to provide a better way to specify what saa7134-input needs, maybe even moving part of the code from saa7134-core and saa7134-cards into saa7134-input. Yet, as a large rework is happening at RC core, it is better to wait until the core changes stablize, in order to rework saa7134 RC internals. While this don't happen, let's just change the logic a little bit to allow enabling IRQ to be generated on both edge transitions, in order to better support pulse/space raw decoders. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>
2010-05-19V4L/DVB: saa7134: Fix IRQ2 bit names for the register mapMauro Carvalho Chehab
There's an error at the IRQ2 bit map registers. Also, it doesn't show what bits are needed for positive and for negative edge. In the case of IR raw decoding, for some protocols, it is important to detect both positive and negative edges. So, a latter patch will need to use the other values. Also, the code that detects problems on IRQ handling is incomplete, as it disables only one of the IRQ bits for GPIO16 and GPIO18. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>
2010-05-18V4L/DVB: ir-core: Add callbacks for input/evdev open/close on IR coreMauro Carvalho Chehab
Especially when IR needs to do polling, it generates lots of wakeups per second. This makes no sense, if the input event device is closed. Adds a callback handler to the IR hardware driver, to allow registering an open/close ops. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>

2009-12-05V4L/DVB (13238): v4l2_subdev: rename tuner s_standby operation to core s_powerLaurent Pinchart
Upcoming I2C v4l2_subdev drivers need a way to control the subdevice power state from the core. This use case is already partially covered by the tuner s_standby operation, but no way to explicitly come back from the standby state is available. Rename the tuner s_standby operation to core s_power, and fix tuner drivers accordingly. The tuner core will call s_power(0) instead of s_standby(). No explicit call to s_power(1) is required for tuners as they are supposed to wake up from standby automatically. interrupts When enabling a shared IRQ line, then saa7134_irq handler could be invoked before the driver had completely set up internal structures, due to a shared interrupt line firing. 2008-11-11V4L/DVB (9356): [PATCH] saa7134: fix resource map sanity check conflictSuresh Siddha
Impact: driver could possibly stomp on resources outside of its scope {mchehab@redhat.com: I got two versions of the same patch (identical, except for whitespacing). One authored by Andy Burns and another authored by Suresh Siddha. Due to that, I'm applying the one that has less CodingStyle errors. I'm also adding both comments and the SOB's for both patches, since they are both interesting} Suresh Siddha commented: Alexey Fisher reported: > resource map sanity check conflict: 0xcfeff800 0xcff007ff 0xcfe00000 > 0xcfefffff PCI Bus 0000:01 BAR base is located in the middle of the 4K page and the hardcoded size argument makes the request span two pages causing the conflict. Fix the hard coded size argument in ioremap(). Andy Burns commented: I have already sent this patch on the linux-dvb list, but it didn't get much attention, so re-sending direct, I hope you all don't mind. While attempting to run mythtv in a xen domU, I encountered problems loading the driver for my saa7134 card, with an error from ioremap(). This error was due to the driver allocating an incorrectly sized mmio area, which was trapped by xen's permission checks, but this would go un-noticed on a kernel without xen. My card has a 1K sized mmio area, I've had information that other cards have 2K areas, perhaps others have different sizes, yet the driver always attempts to map 4K. I realise that the granularity of mapping is the page size, which typically would be 4K, but unless the card's base address happens to fall on a 4K boundary (mine does not) then the base+4K will end up spanning two pages, and this is when the error occurs under xen. My patch uses the pci_resource_len macro to determine the size required for the user's particular card, instead of the hardcoded 4K value. I've tested with a couple of printk() inside ioremap() that the start address and size do get rounded to the closest page boundary. With this patch I am able to successfully load the saa7134 driver and run mythtv under xen with my card, subject to correct pollirq settings in case of shared IRQ, I am still seeing occasional DMA panics, which I think are related to swiotlb handling by dom0/domU, usually the panic occurs when changing mux, once tuned to a mux, 12 hour continuous recordings are possible without errors. 2008-10-21V4L/DVB (9327): v4l: use video_device.num instead of minor in video%dHans Verkuil
The kernel number of a v4l2 node (e.g. videoX, radioX or vbiX) is now independent of the minor number. So instead of using the minor field of the video_device struct one has to use the num field: this always contains the kernel number of the device node. I forgot about this when I did the v4l2 core change, so this patch converts all drivers that use it in one go. Luckily the change is trivial. 2008-04-24V4L/DVB (7262): Add support for xc3028-based boardsMauro Carvalho Chehab
This patch adds support for the following saa7134 xc3028 based boards: 132 -> AVerMedia Cardbus TV/Radio (E506R) [1461:f436] 133 -> AVerMedia Hybrid TV/Radio (A16D) [1461:f936] 134 -> Avermedia M115 [1461:a836] 135 -> Compro VideoMate T750 [185b:c900] This is based on a original patch thanks to Markus Rechberger that added xc3028 gpio init code for the above boards. This patch moves saa7134_tuner_callback to saa7134-cards, originally used only by tda8290 DVB-S boards. The callback was made more generic to support other tuners. Currently, it supports both tda8290 and xc2028/xc3028 tuners. Added also the basis for xc5000 tuner callback. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org>
