2008-10-16i2o: Fix 32/64bit DMA lockingAlan Cox
The I2O ioctls assume 32bits. In itself that is fine as they are old cards and nobody uses 64bit. However on LKML it was noted this assumption is also made for allocated memory and is unsafe on 64bit systems. Fixing this is a mess. It turns out there is tons of crap buried in a header file that does racy 32/64bit filtering on the masks. So we: - Verify all callers of the racy code can sleep (i2o_dma_[re]alloc) - Move the code into a new i2o/memory.c file - Remove the gfp_mask argument so nobody can try and misuse the function - Wrap a mutex around the problem area (a single mutex is easy to do and none of this is performance relevant) - Switch the remaining problem kmalloc holdout to use i2o_dma_alloc Cc: Markus Lidel <Markus.Lidel@shadowconnect.com> Cc: Vasily Averin <vvs@sw.ru> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
2008-07-24I2O: handle sysfs_create_link() failuresWang Chen
Compile warning: ignoring return value of `sysfs_create_link', declared with attribute warn_unused_result. If sysfs_create_link failed, take care of the return value and do some error handle after the failure. Since sysfs_remove_link() will check whether a link exists, when removing the link in error path, we don't need to care whether a link was created. 2007-07-16Use mutexes instead of semaphores in I2O driverMatthias Kaehlcke
The I2O driver uses two semaphores as mutexes. Use the mutex API instead of the (binary) semaphores. Signed-off-by: Matthias Kaehlcke <matthias.kaehlcke@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
2007-07-15[SCSI] i2o: remove redundant GFP_ATOMIC from kmalloc from device.cSatyam Sharma
drivers/message/i2o/device.c:i2o_parm_field_get() unnecessarily passes GFP_ATOMIC (along with GFP_KERNEL) to kmalloc() from a context that is not atomic. Remove the pointless GFP_ATOMIC. 2006-12-07[PATCH] I2O: more error checkingJeff Garzik
i2o_scsi: handle sysfs failure i2o_device: * convert i2o_device_add() to return integer error code rather than pointer. Fortunately -nobody- checks the return code of this function, so changing has nil impact. * handle errors thrown by device_register() More work in i2o_device remains. 2006-01-06[PATCH] I2O: changed I2O API to create I2O messages in kernel memoryMarkus Lidel

2005-10-30[PATCH] fix missing includesTim Schmielau
I recently picked up my older work to remove unnecessary #includes of sched.h, starting from a patch by Dave Jones to not include sched.h from module.h. This reduces the number of indirect includes of sched.h by ~300. Another ~400 pointless direct includes can be removed after this disentangling (patch to follow later). However, quite a few indirect includes need to be fixed up for this. In order to feed the patches through -mm with as little disturbance as possible, I've split out the fixes I accumulated up to now (complete for i386 and x86_64, more archs to follow later) and post them before the real patch. This way this large part of the patch is kept simple with only adding #includes, and all hunks are independent of each other. So if any hunk rejects or gets in the way of other patches, just drop it. My scripts will pick it up again in the next round. 2005-10-28[PATCH] I2O: remove i2o_device_classDmitry Torokhov
I2O: cleanup - remove i2o_device_class I2O devices reside on their own bus so there should be no reason to also have i2c_device class that mirros i2o bus. Signed-off-by: Dmitry Torokhov <dtor@mail.ru> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
2005-10-28[PATCH] I2O: remove class interfaceDmitry Torokhov
I2O: remove i2o_device_class_interface misuse The intent of class interfaces was to provide different 'views' at the same object, not just run some code every time a new class device is registered. Kill interface structure, make class core register default attributes and set up sysfs links right when registering class devices. 2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2v2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
