2020-01-29net: cxgb3_main: Add CAP_NET_ADMIN check to CHELSIO_GET_MEMMichael Ellerman
[ Upstream commit 3546d8f1bbe992488ed91592cf6bf76e7114791a = The cxgb3 driver for "Chelsio T3-based gigabit and 10Gb Ethernet adapters" implements a custom ioctl as SIOCCHIOCTL/SIOCDEVPRIVATE in cxgb_extension_ioctl(). One of the subcommands of the ioctl is CHELSIO_GET_MEM, which appears to read memory directly out of the adapter and return it to userspace. It's not entirely clear what the contents of the adapter memory contains, but the assumption is that it shouldn't be accessible to all users. So add a CAP_NET_ADMIN check to the CHELSIO_GET_MEM case. Put it after the is_offload() check, which matches two of the other subcommands in the same function which also check for is_offload() and CAP_NET_ADMIN. Found by Ilja by code inspection, not tested as I don't have the required hardware. 2019-06-11cxgb3/l2t: Fix undefined behaviourGustavo A. R. Silva
[ Upstream commit 76497732932f15e7323dc805e8ea8dc11bb587cf ] The use of zero-sized array causes undefined behaviour when it is not the last member in a structure. As it happens to be in this case. Also, the current code makes use of a language extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare variable-length types such as this one is a flexible array member, introduced in C99: struct foo { int stuff; struct boo array[]; }; By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning in case the flexible array does not occur last. 2018-11-10net: cxgb3_main: fix a missing-check bugWenwen Wang
[ Upstream commit 2c05d88818ab6571816b93edce4d53703870d7ae ] In cxgb_extension_ioctl(), the command of the ioctl is firstly copied from the user-space buffer 'useraddr' to 'cmd' and checked through the switch statement. If the command is not as expected, an error code EOPNOTSUPP is returned. In the following execution, i.e., the cases of the switch statement, the whole buffer of 'useraddr' is copied again to a specific data structure, according to what kind of command is requested. However, after the second copy, there is no re-check on the newly-copied command. Given that the buffer 'useraddr' is in the user space, a malicious user can race to change the command between the two copies. By doing so, the attacker can supply malicious data to the kernel and cause undefined behavior. This patch adds a re-check in each case of the switch statement if there is a second copy in that case, to re-check whether the command obtained in the second copy is the same as the one in the first copy. This issue was detected with the help of Smatch: drivers/net/ethernet/chelsio/cxgb3/cxgb3_main.c:2286 cxgb_extension_ioctl() warn: potential spectre issue 'adapter->msix_info' Fix this by sanitizing t.qset_idx before using it to index adapter->msix_info Notice that given that speculation windows are large, the policy is to kill the speculation on the first load and not worry if it can be completed with a dependent load/store [1]. Replace dev_kfree_skb with dev_kfree_skb_any in t3_eth_xmit that can be called in hard irq and other contexts. dev_kfree_skb is replaced with dev_kfree_skb_any in t3_eth_xmit as that location is a packet drop, while kfree_skb in free_tx_desc, and in write_tx_pkt_wr are places where packets are consumed in a healthy manner. In that case skb->tail will be a pointer whereas skb->transport_header will be an offset from head. This is corrected by using wrappers that ensure that comparisons and calculations are always made using pointers.
