Many drivers initialize uselessly n_priv_flags, n_stats, testinfo_len, eedump_len & regdump_len fields in their .get_drvinfo() ethtool op. "sp->desc[i]" has 25 characters. "dev->name" has 15 characters. If we used all 15 characters then the sprintf() would overflow. I changed the "sprintf(sp->name, "%s Neterion %s"" to snprintf(), as well, even though it can't overflow just to be consistent. Add a protocol argument to the VLAN packet tagging functions. In case of HW tagging, we need that protocol available in the ndo_start_xmit functions, so it is stored in a new field in the skb. Adding casts of objects to the same type is unnecessary and confusing for a human reader. For example, this cast: int y; int *p = (int *)&y; I used the coccinelle script below to find and remove these unnecessary casts. I manually removed the conversions this script produces of casts with __force, __iomem and __user. @@ type T; T *p; @@ - (T *)p + p A function in atl1e_main.c was passed a const pointer when it actually modified elements of the structure.
