[ Upstream commit a6e60d84989fa0e91db7f236eda40453b0e44afa ] The upcoming GCC 9 release extends the -Wmissing-attributes warnings (enabled by -Wall) to C and aliases: it warns when particular function attributes are missing in the aliases but not in their target. In particular, it triggers for all the init/cleanup_module aliases in the kernel (defined by the module_init/exit macros), ending up being very noisy. These aliases point to the __init/__exit functions of a module, which are defined as __cold (among other attributes). However, the aliases themselves do not have the __cold attribute. Since the compiler behaves differently when compiling a __cold function as well as when compiling paths leading to calls to __cold functions, the warning is trying to point out the possibly-forgotten attribute in the alias. In order to keep the warning enabled, we decided to silence this case. Ideally, we would mark the aliases directly as __init/__exit. However, there are currently around 132 modules in the kernel which are missing __init/__exit in their init/cleanup functions (either because they are missing, or for other reasons, e.g. the functions being called from somewhere else); and a section mismatch is a hard error. A conservative alternative was to mark the aliases as __cold only. However, since we would like to eventually enforce __init/__exit to be always marked, we chose to use the new __copy function attribute (introduced by GCC 9 as well to deal with this). With it, we copy the attributes used by the target functions into the aliases. This way, functions that were not marked as __init/__exit won't have their aliases marked either, and therefore there won't be a section mismatch. Note that the warning would go away marking either the extern declaration, the definition, or both. However, we only mark the definition of the alias, since we do not want callers (which only see the declaration) to be compiled as if the function was __cold (and therefore the paths leading to those calls would be assumed to be unlikely). The attribute is designed for libraries that define aliases or function resolvers that are expected to specify the same set of attributes as their targets. The copy attribute can be used with functions, variables, or types. However, the kind of symbol to which the attribute is applied (either function or variable) must match the kind of symbol to which the argument refers. The copy attribute copies only syntactic and semantic attributes but not attributes that affect a symbol’s linkage or visibility such as alias, visibility, or weak. Per listen(fd, backlog) rules, there is really no point accepting a SYN, sending a SYNACK, and dropping the following ACK packet if accept queue is full, because application is not draining accept queue fast enough. This behavior is fooling TCP clients that believe they established a flow, while there is nothing at server side. They might then send about 10 MSS (if using IW10) that will be dropped anyway while server is under stress. Because map updates are distributed lazily, an OSD may not know about the new blacklist for quite some time after "osd blacklist add" command is completed. This makes it possible for a blacklisted but still alive client to overwrite a post-blacklist update, resulting in data corruption. Waiting for latest osdmap in ceph_monc_blacklist_add() and thus using the post-blacklist epoch for all post-blacklist requests ensures that all such requests "wait" for the blacklist to come into force on their respective OSDs. 2019-03-23dm: fix to_sector() for 32bitNeilBrown
commit 0bdb50c531f7377a9da80d3ce2d61f389c84cb30 upstream. A dm-raid array with devices larger than 4GB won't assemble on a 32 bit host since _check_data_dev_sectors() was added in 4.16. This is because to_sector() treats its argument as an "unsigned long" which is 32bits (4GB) on a 32bit host. Using "unsigned long long" is more correct. Kernels as early as 4.2 can have other problems due to to_sector() being used on the size of a device. If the string was shorter then sizeof(const char *), attempts to read it would have failed with -EOVERFLOW. 2019-03-13drm: disable uncached DMA optimization for ARM and arm64Ard Biesheuvel
[ Upstream commit e02f5c1bb2283cfcee68f2f0feddcc06150f13aa ] The DRM driver stack is designed to work with cache coherent devices only, but permits an optimization to be enabled in some cases, where for some buffers, both the CPU and the GPU use uncached mappings, removing the need for DMA snooping and allocation in the CPU caches. The use of uncached GPU mappings relies on the correct implementation of the PCIe NoSnoop TLP attribute by the platform, otherwise the GPU will use cached mappings nonetheless. On x86 platforms, this does not seem to matter, as uncached CPU mappings will snoop the caches in any case. However, on ARM and arm64, enabling this optimization on a platform where NoSnoop is ignored results in loss of coherency, which breaks correct operation of the device. Since we have no way of detecting whether NoSnoop works or not, just disable this optimization entirely for ARM and arm64. 2019-03-13cpufreq: Use struct kobj_attribute instead of struct global_attrViresh Kumar

The cpufreq_global_kobject is created using kobject_create_and_add() helper, which assigns the kobj_type as dynamic_kobj_ktype and show/store routines are set to kobj_attr_show() and kobj_attr_store(). These routines pass struct kobj_attribute as an argument to the show/store callbacks. But all the cpufreq files created using the cpufreq_global_kobject expect the argument to be of type struct attribute. Things work fine currently as no one accesses the "attr" argument. We may not see issues even if the argument is used, as struct kobj_attribute has struct attribute as its first element and so they will both get same address. But this is logically incorrect and we should rather use struct kobj_attribute instead of struct global_attr in the cpufreq core and drivers and the show/store callbacks should take struct kobj_attribute as argument instead. This bug is caught using CFI CLANG builds in android kernel which catches mismatch in function prototypes for such callbacks. Align the payload of "user" and "logon" keys so that users of the keyrings service can access it as a struct that requires more than 2-byte alignment. fscrypt currently does this which results in the read of fscrypt_key::size being misaligned as it needs 4-byte alignment. Align to __alignof__(u64) rather than __alignof__(long) since in the future it's conceivable that people would use structs beginning with u64, which on some platforms would require more than 'long' alignment. In this particular report the bug happened while copying ax25->digipeat. Fix this problem by making sure we call ax25_get_route() while ax25_route_lock is held, so that no modification could happen while using the route. The current two ax25_get_route() callers do not sleep, so this change should be fine. Once we do that, ax25_get_route() no longer needs to grab a reference on the found route. 2019-02-23net: ipv4: use a dedicated counter for icmp_v4 redirect packetsLorenzo Bianconi
[ Upstream commit c09551c6ff7fe16a79a42133bcecba5fc2fc3291 ] According to the algorithm described in the comment block at the beginning of ip_rt_send_redirect, the host should try to send 'ip_rt_redirect_number' ICMP redirect packets with an exponential backoff and then stop sending them at all assuming that the destination ignores redirects. If the device has previously sent some ICMP error packets that are rate-limited (e.g TTL expired) and continues to receive traffic, the redirect packets will never be transmitted. This happens since peer->rate_tokens will be typically greater than 'ip_rt_redirect_number' and so it will never be reset even if the redirect silence timeout (ip_rt_redirect_silence) has elapsed without receiving any packet requiring redirects. [ Upstream commit 3b89ea9c5902acccdbbdec307c85edd1bf52515e ] The features attribute is of type u64 and stored in the native endianes on the system. The for_each_set_bit() macro takes a pointer to a 32 bit array and goes over the bits in this area. On little Endian systems this also works with an u64 as the most significant bit is on the highest address, but on big endian the words are swapped. When we expect bit 15 here we get bit 47 (15 + 32). This patch converts it more or less to its own for_each_set_bit() implementation which works on 64 bit integers directly. This is then completely in host endianness and should work like expected. This fixes a compile problem of some user space applications by not including linux/libc-compat.h in uapi/if_ether.h. linux/libc-compat.h checks which "features" the header files, included from the libc, provide to make the Linux kernel uapi header files only provide no conflicting structures and enums. If a user application mixes kernel headers and libc headers it could happen that linux/libc-compat.h gets included too early where not all other libc headers are included yet. Then the linux/libc-compat.h would not prevent all the redefinitions and we run into compile problems. This patch removes the include of linux/libc-compat.h from uapi/if_ether.h to fix the recently introduced case, but not all as this is more or less impossible. It is no problem to do the check directly in the if_ether.h file and not in libc-compat.h as this does not need any fancy glibc header detection as glibc never provided struct ethhdr and should define __UAPI_DEF_ETHHDR by them self when they will provide this. For example: u32 *dest = &regs->data[priv->dreg]; 1. *dest = 0; *(u16 *) dest = val_u16; 2. *dest = val_u16; For method 1, the u16 value will be stored like this, either in big-endian or little-endian system: 0 15 31 +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ | Value | 0 | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ For method 2, in little-endian system, the u16 value will be the same as listed above. But in big-endian system, the u16 value will be stored like this: 0 15 31 +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ | 0 | Value | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ So later we use "memcmp(&regs->data[priv->sreg], data, 2);" to do compare in nft_cmp, nft_lookup expr ..., method 2 will get the wrong result in big-endian system, as 0~15 bits will always be zero. For the similar reason, when loading an u16 value from the u32 data register, we should use "*(u16 *) sreg;" instead of "(u16)*sreg;", the 2nd method will get the wrong value in the big-endian system. So introduce some wrapper functions to store/load an u8 or u16 integer to/from the u32 data register, and use them in the right place. Following sequence will cause the crash: If we create an 'almost' BTS event with precise_ip and callchains, and it into a BTS event it will crash the perf_prepare_sample() function because precise_ip events are expected to come in with callchain data initialized, but that's not the case for intel_pmu_drain_bts_buffer() caller. Adding a check_period callback to be called before the period is changed via PERF_EVENT_IOC_PERIOD. It will deny the change if the event would become BTS. After commit 717adfdaf147 ("HID: debug: check length before copy_to_user()") it is possible to enter an infinite loop in hid_debug_events_read() by providing 0 as count, this locks up a system. Arkadiusz reported that enabling memcg's group oom killing causes strange memcg statistics where there is no task in a memcg despite the number of tasks in that memcg is not 0. It turned out that there is a bug in wake_oom_reaper() which allows enqueuing same task twice which makes impossible to decrease the number of tasks in that memcg due to a refcount leak. 2019-02-12ALSA: compress: Fix stop handling on compressed capture streamsCharles Keepax
commit 4f2ab5e1d13d6aa77c55f4914659784efd776eb4 upstream. It is normal user behaviour to start, stop, then start a stream again without closing it. Currently this works for compressed playback streams but not capture ones. The states on a compressed capture stream go directly from OPEN to PREPARED, unlike a playback stream which moves to SETUP and waits for a write of data before moving to PREPARED. Currently however, when a stop is sent the state is set to SETUP for both types of streams. This leaves a capture stream in the situation where a new start can't be sent as that requires the state to be PREPARED and a new set_params can't be sent as that requires the state to be OPEN. The only option being to close the stream, and then reopen. Correct this issues by allowing snd_compr_drain_notify to set the state depending on the stream direction, as we already do in set_params. 2019-02-06drivers: core: Remove glue dirs from sysfs earlierBenjamin Herrenschmidt
commit 726e41097920a73e4c7c33385dcc0debb1281e18 upstream. For devices with a class, we create a "glue" directory between the parent device and the new device with the class name. This directory is never "explicitely" removed when empty however, this is left to the implicit sysfs removal done by kobject_release() when the object loses its last reference via kobject_put(). This is problematic because as long as it's not been removed from sysfs, it is still present in the class kset and in sysfs directory structure. The presence in the class kset exposes a use after free bug fixed by the previous patch, but the presence in sysfs means that until the kobject is released, which can take a while (especially with kobject debugging), any attempt at re-creating such as binding a new device for that class/parent pair, will result in a sysfs duplicate file name error. This fixes it by instead doing an explicit kobject_del() when the glue dir is empty, by keeping track of the number of child devices of the gluedir. This is made easy by the fact that all glue dir operations are done with a global mutex, and there's already a function (cleanup_glue_dir) called in all the right places taking that mutex that can be enhanced for this. It appears that this was in fact the intent of the function, but the implementation was wrong. 2019-02-06ipvlan, l3mdev: fix broken l3s mode wrt local routesDaniel Borkmann
[ Upstream commit d5256083f62e2720f75bb3c5a928a0afe47d6bc3 ] While implementing ipvlan l3 and l3s mode for kubernetes CNI plugin, I ran into the issue that while l3 mode is working fine, l3s mode does not have any connectivity to kube-apiserver and hence all pods end up in Error state as well. The ipvlan master device sits on top of a bond device and hostns traffic to kube-apiserver (also running in hostns) is DNATed from 10.152.183.1:443 to 139.178.29.207:37573 where the latter is the address of the bond0. While in l3 mode, a curl to https://10.152.183.1:443 or to https://139.178.29.207:37573 works fine from hostns, neither of them do in case of l3s. In the latter only a curl to https://127.0.0.1:37573 appeared to work where for local addresses of bond0 I saw kernel suddenly starting to emit ARP requests to query HW address of bond0 which remained unanswered and neighbor entries in INCOMPLETE state. These ARP requests only happen while in l3s. Debugging this further, I found the issue is that l3s mode is piggy- backing on l3 master device, and in this case local routes are using l3mdev_master_dev_rcu(dev) instead of net->loopback_dev as per commit f5a0aab84b74 ("net: ipv4: dst for local input routes should use l3mdev if relevant") and 5f02ce24c269 ("net: l3mdev: Allow the l3mdev to be a loopback"). I found that reverting them back into using the net->loopback_dev fixed ipvlan l3s connectivity and got everything working for the CNI. Now judging from 4fbae7d83c98 ("ipvlan: Introduce l3s mode") and the l3mdev paper in [0] the only sole reason why ipvlan l3s is relying on l3 master device is to get the l3mdev_ip_rcv() receive hook for setting the dst entry of the input route without adding its own ipvlan specific hacks into the receive path, however, any l3 domain semantics beyond just that are breaking l3s operation. Note that ipvlan also has the ability to dynamically switch its internal operation from l3 to l3s for all ports via ipvlan_set_port_mode() at runtime. In any case, l3 vs l3s soley distinguishes itself by 'de-confusing' netfilter through switching skb->dev to ipvlan slave device late in NF_INET_LOCAL_IN before handing the skb to L4. Minimal fix taken here is to add a IFF_L3MDEV_RX_HANDLER flag which, if set from ipvlan setup, gets us only the wanted l3mdev_l3_rcv() hook without any additional l3mdev semantics on top. This should also have minimal impact since dev->priv_flags is already hot in cache. With this set, l3s mode is working fine and I also get things like masquerading pod traffic on the ipvlan master properly working. 2019-01-31compiler.h: enable builtin overflow checkers and add fallback codeRasmus Villemoes
commit f0907827a8a9152aedac2833ed1b674a7b2a44f2 upstream. This adds wrappers for the __builtin overflow checkers present in gcc 5.1+ as well as fallback implementations for earlier compilers. It's not that easy to implement the fully generic __builtin_X_overflow(T1 a, T2 b, T3 *d) in macros, so the fallback code assumes that T1, T2 and T3 are the same. We obviously don't want the wrappers to have different semantics depending on $GCC_VERSION, so we also insist on that even when using the builtins. There are a few problems with the 'a+b < a' idiom for checking for overflow: For signed types, it relies on undefined behaviour and is not actually complete (it doesn't check underflow; e.g. INT_MIN+INT_MIN == 0 isn't caught). Due to type promotion it is wrong for all types (signed and unsigned) narrower than int. Similarly, when a and b does not have the same type, there are subtle cases like u32 a; if (a + sizeof(foo) < a) return -EOVERFLOW; a += sizeof(foo); where the test is always false on 64 bit platforms. Add to that that it is not always possible to determine the types involved at a glance. The new overflow.h is somewhat bulky, but that's mostly a result of trying to be type-generic, complete (e.g. catching not only overflow but also signed underflow) and not relying on undefined behaviour. Linus is of course right [1] that for unsigned subtraction a-b, the right way to check for overflow (underflow) is "b > a" and not "__builtin_sub_overflow(a, b, &d)", but that's just one out of six cases covered here, and included mostly for completeness. So is it worth it? I think it is, if nothing else for the documentation value of seeing if (check_add_overflow(a, b, &d)) return -EGOAWAY; do_stuff_with(d); instead of the open-coded (and possibly wrong and/or incomplete and/or UBsan-tickling) if (a+b < a) return -EGOAWAY; do_stuff_with(a+b); While gcc does recognize the 'a+b < a' idiom for testing unsigned add overflow, it doesn't do nearly as good for unsigned multiplication (there's also no single well-established idiom). So using check_mul_overflow in kcalloc and friends may also make gcc generate slightly better code. [ Upstream commit f97f4dd8b3bb9d0993d2491e0f22024c68109184 ] IPv4 routing tables are flushed in two cases: 1. In response to events in the netdev and inetaddr notification chains 2. When a network namespace is being dismantled In both cases only routes associated with a dead nexthop group are flushed. However, a nexthop group will only be marked as dead in case it is populated with actual nexthops using a nexthop device. This is not the case when the route in question is an error route (e.g., 'blackhole', 'unreachable'). Therefore, when a network namespace is being dismantled such routes are not flushed and leaked [1]. 2019-01-26locking/qspinlock: Pull in asm/byteorder.h to ensure correct endiannessDave Airlie
This commit is not required upstream, but is required for the 4.9.y stable series. Upstream commit 101110f6271c ("Kbuild: always define endianess in kconfig.h") ensures that either __LITTLE_ENDIAN or __BIG_ENDIAN is defined to reflect the endianness of the target CPU architecture regardless of whether or not <asm/byteorder.h> has been #included. The upstream definition of 'struct qspinlock' relies on this property. Unfortunately, the 4.9.y stable series does not provide this guarantee, so the 'spin_unlock()' routine can erroneously treat the underlying lockword as big-endian on little-endian architectures using native qspinlock (i.e. x86_64 without PV) if the caller has not included <asm/byteorder.h>. This can lead to hangs such as the one in 'i915_gem_request()' reported via bugzilla: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=202063 Fix the issue by ensuring that <asm/byteorder.h> is #included in <asm/qspinlock_types.h>, where 'struct qspinlock' is defined. Rework so that wb_put have an extra check if wb->bdi before decrement wb->refcnt and also add a WARN_ON_ONCE to get a warning if it happens again in other drivers. The problem is that serv is global structure but sv_bc_xprt is assigned per-netnamespace. According to Trond, the whole "let's set up rqstp->rq_xprt for the back channel" is nothing but a giant hack in order to work around the fact that svc_process_common() uses it to find the xpt_ops, and perform a couple of (meaningless for the back channel) tests of xpt_flags. All we really need in svc_process_common() is to be able to run rqstp->rq_xprt->xpt_ops->xpo_prep_reply_hdr() Bruce J Fields points that this xpo_prep_reply_hdr() call is an awfully roundabout way just to do "svc_putnl(resv, 0);" in the tcp case. This patch does not initialiuze rqstp->rq_xprt in bc_svc_process(), now it calls svc_process_common() with rqstp->rq_xprt = NULL. To adjust reply header svc_process_common() just check rqstp->rq_prot and calls svc_tcp_prep_reply_hdr() for tcp case. To handle rqstp->rq_xprt = NULL case in functions called from svc_process_common() patch intruduces net namespace pointer svc_rqst->rq_bc_net and adjust SVC_NET() definition. 2019-01-09ext4: force inode writes when nfsd calls commit_metadata()Theodore Ts'o
commit fde872682e175743e0c3ef939c89e3c6008a1529 upstream. Some time back, nfsd switched from calling vfs_fsync() to using a new commit_metadata() hook in export_operations(). If the file system did not provide a commit_metadata() hook, it fell back to using sync_inode_metadata(). Unfortunately doesn't work on all file systems. In particular, it doesn't work on ext4 due to how the inode gets journalled --- the VFS writeback code will not always call ext4_write_inode(). So we need to provide our own ext4_nfs_commit_metdata() method which calls ext4_write_inode() directly.
