2007-02-14[IPX]: Fix NULL pointer dereference on ipx unloadJiri Bohac
Fixes a null pointer dereference when unloading the ipx module. On initialization of the ipx module, registering certain packet types can fail. When this happens, unloading the module later dereferences NULL pointers. This patch fixes that. Please apply. Signed-off-by: Jiri Bohac <jbohac@suse.cz> Signed-off-by: David S. 2006-11-24[IPX]: Annotate and fix IPX checksumAl Viro
Calculation of IPX checksum got buggered about 2.4.0. The old variant mangled the packet; that got fixed, but calculation itself got buggered. Restored the correct logics, fixed a subtle breakage we used to have even back then: if the sum is 0 mod 0xffff, we want to return 0, not 0xffff. The latter has special meaning for IPX (cheksum disabled). Observation (and obvious fix) nicked from history of FreeBSD ipx_cksum.c... 2006-11-24[IPX]: Another nonlinear receive fixStephen Hemminger
Need to check some more cases in IPX receive. If the skb is purely fragments, the IPX header needs to be extracted. The function pskb_may_pull() may in theory invalidate all the pointers in the skb, so references to ipx header must be refreshed. 2006-11-24[IPX]: Header length validation neededStephen Hemminger
This patch will linearize and check there is enough data. It handles the pprop case as well as avoiding a whole audit of the routing code. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net> Signed-off-by: Adrian Bunk <bunk@stusta.de>

2006-01-03[NET]: Add a dev_ioctl() fallback to sock_ioctl()Christoph Hellwig
Currently all network protocols need to call dev_ioctl as the default fallback in their ioctl implementations. This patch adds a fallback to dev_ioctl to sock_ioctl if the protocol returned -ENOIOCTLCMD. This way all the procotol ioctl handlers can be simplified and we don't need to export dev_ioctl. 2006-01-03[NET]: move struct proto_ops to constEric Dumazet
I noticed that some of 'struct proto_ops' used in the kernel may share a cache line used by locks or other heavily modified data. (default linker alignement is 32 bytes, and L1_CACHE_LINE is 64 or 128 at least) This patch makes sure a 'struct proto_ops' can be declared as const, so that all cpus can share all parts of it without false sharing. This is not mandatory : a driver can still use a read/write structure if it needs to (and eventually a __read_mostly) I made a global stubstitute to change all existing occurences to make them const. This should reduce the possibility of false sharing on SMP, and speedup some socket system calls. Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <dada1@cosmosbay.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Of this type, mostly: CHECK net/ipv6/netfilter.c net/ipv6/netfilter.c:96:12: warning: symbol 'ipv6_netfilter_init' was not declared. 2005-08-29[TCP]: Move the tcp sock states to net/tcp_states.hArnaldo Carvalho de Melo
Lots of places just needs the states, not even linux/tcp.h, where this enum was, needs it. This speeds up development of the refactorings as less sources are rebuilt when things get moved from net/tcp.h. 2005-08-29[NET]: Kill skb->real_devDavid S. Miller
Bonding just wants the device before the skb_bond() decapsulation occurs, so simply pass that original device into packet_type->func() as an argument. It remains to be seen whether we can use this same exact thing to get rid of skb->input_dev as well. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-07-11[NET]: move config options out to individual protocolsSam Ravnborg
Move the protocol specific config options out to the specific protocols. With this change net/Kconfig now starts to become readable and serve as a good basis for further re-structuring. The menu structure is left almost intact, except that indention is fixed in most cases. Most visible are the INET changes where several "depends on INET" are replaced with a single ifdef INET / endif pair. Several new files were created to accomplish this change - they are small but serve the purpose that config options are now distributed out where they belongs. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
