commit b5a236c175b0d984552a5f7c9d35141024c2b261 upstream.
Recently we found the audio jack detection stop working after suspend
on many machines with Realtek codec. Sometimes the audio selection
dialogue didn't show up after users plugged headhphone/headset into
the headset jack, sometimes after uses plugged headphone/headset, then
click the sound icon on the upper-right corner of gnome-desktop, it
also showed the speaker rather than the headphone.
The root cause is that before suspend, the codec already call the
runtime_suspend since this codec is not used by any apps, then in
resume, it will not call runtime_resume for this codec. But for some
realtek codec (so far, alc236, alc255 and alc891) with the specific
BIOS, if it doesn't run runtime_resume after suspend, all codec
functions including jack detection stop working anymore.
This problem existed for a long time, but it was not exposed, that is
because when problem happens, if users play sound or open
sound-setting to check audio device, this will trigger calling to
runtime_resume (via snd_hda_power_up), then the codec starts working
again before users notice this problem.
Since we don't know how many codec and BIOS combinations have this
problem, to fix it, let the driver call runtime_resume for all codecs
in pm_resume, maybe for some codecs, this is not needed, but it is
harmless. After a codec is runtime resumed, if it is not used by any
apps, it will be runtime suspended soon and furthermore we don't run
suspend frequently, this change will not add much power consumption.

commit 98081ca62cbac31fb0f7efaf90b2e7384ce22257 upstream.
Currently we deal with single codec and suspend codec callbacks for
all S3, S4 and runtime PM handling. But it turned out that we want
distinguish the call patterns sometimes, e.g. for applying some init
sequence only at probing and restoring from hibernate.
This patch slightly modifies the common PM callbacks for HD-audio
codec and stores the currently processed PM event in power_state of
the codec's device.power field, which is currently unused. The codec
callback can take a look at this event value and judges which purpose
it's being called.

Liquid Saffire 56
commit 7dc661bd8d3261053b69e4e2d0050cd1ee540fc1 upstream.
ALSA bebob driver has an entry for Focusrite Saffire Pro 10 I/O. The
entry matches vendor_id in root directory and model_id in unit
directory of configuration ROM for IEEE 1394 bus.
On the other hand, configuration ROM of Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56
has the same vendor_id and model_id. This device is an application of
TCAT Dice (TCD2220 a.k.a Dice Jr.) however ALSA bebob driver can be
bound to it randomly instead of ALSA dice driver. At present, drivers
in ALSA firewire stack can not handle this situation appropriately.
This commit uses more identical mod_alias for Focusrite Saffire Pro 10
I/O in ALSA bebob driver.

[ Upstream commit c407cd008fd039320d147088b52d0fa34ed3ddcb ]
Change snprintf to scnprintf. There are generally two cases where using
snprintf causes problems.
1) Uses of size += snprintf(buf, SIZE - size, fmt, ...)
In this case, if snprintf would have written more characters than what the
buffer size (SIZE) is, then size will end up larger than SIZE. In later
uses of snprintf, SIZE - size will result in a negative number, leading
to problems. Note that size might already be too large by using
size = snprintf before the code reaches a case of size += snprintf.
2) If size is ultimately used as a length parameter for a copy back to user
space, then it will potentially allow for a buffer overflow and information
disclosure when size is greater than SIZE. When the size is used to index
the buffer directly, we can have memory corruption. This also means when
size = snprintf... is used, it may also cause problems since size may become
large. Copying to userspace is mitigated by the HARDENED_USERCOPY kernel
configuration.
The solution to these issues is to use scnprintf which returns the number of
characters actually written to the buffer, so the size variable will never
exceed SIZE.

[ Upstream commit 678e2b44c8e3fec3afc7202f1996a4500a50be93 ]
The problem is seen in the q6asm_dai_compr_set_params() function:
ret = q6asm_map_memory_regions(dir, prtd->audio_client, prtd->phys,
(prtd->pcm_size / prtd->periods),
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
prtd->periods);
In this code prtd->pcm_size is the buffer_size and prtd->periods comes
from params->buffer.fragments. If we allow the number of fragments to
be zero then it results in a divide by zero bug. One possible fix would
be to use prtd->pcm_count directly instead of using the division to
re-calculate it. But I decided that it doesn't really make sense to
allow zero fragments.

commit 305a0ade180981686eec1f92aa6252a7c6ebb1cf upstream.
In the current code, the codec registration may happen both at the
codec bind time and the end of the controller probe time. In a rare
occasion, they race with each other, leading to Oops due to the still
uninitialized card device.
This patch introduces a simple flag to prevent the codec registration
at the codec bind time as long as the controller probe is going on.
The controller probe invokes snd_card_register() that does the whole
registration task, and we don't need to register each piece
beforehand.

This commit fixes hard-coded model-id for an unit of Apogee Ensemble with
a correct value. This unit uses DM1500 ASIC produced ArchWave AG (formerly
known as BridgeCo AG).
I note that this model supports three modes in the number of data channels
in tx/rx streams; 8 ch pairs, 10 ch pairs, 18 ch pairs. The mode is
switched by Vendor-dependent AV/C command, like:
$ cd linux-firewire-utils
$ ./firewire-request /dev/fw1 fcp 0x00ff000003dbeb0600000000 (8ch pairs)
$ ./firewire-request /dev/fw1 fcp 0x00ff000003dbeb0601000000 (10ch pairs)
$ ./firewire-request /dev/fw1 fcp 0x00ff000003dbeb0602000000 (18ch pairs)
When switching between different mode, the unit disappears from IEEE 1394
bus, then appears on the bus with different combination of stream formats.
In a mode of 18 ch pairs, available sampling rate is up to 96.0 kHz, else
up to 192.0 kHz.

commit cbb2ebf70daf7f7d97d3811a2ff8e39655b8c184 upstream.
In `create_composite_quirk`, the terminating condition of for loops is
`quirk->ifnum < 0`. So any composite quirks should end with `struct
snd_usb_audio_quirk` object with ifnum < 0.
for (quirk = quirk_comp->data; quirk->ifnum >= 0; ++quirk) {
.....
}
the data field of Bower's & Wilkins PX headphones usb device device quirks
do not end with {.ifnum = -1}, wihch may result in out-of-bound read.
This Patch fix the bug by adding an ending quirk object.

commit 63d2a9ec310d8bcc955574220d4631aa55c1a80c upstream.
Even after disabling interrupts on the module, it could be possible
that irq handlers are still running. System hang is seen during
suspend path. It was found that, there were pending writes on the
HDA bus and clock was disabled by that time.
Above mentioned issue is fixed by clearing any pending irq handlers
before disabling clocks and returning from hda suspend.

to be changed via device tree.
When running a stress playback loop test on a mx6dl wandboard channel
swap can be noticed on about 10% of the times.
While debugging this issue I noticed that when probing the SGTL5000
LRCLK pin with the scope the swap did not happen. After removing

issue is gone.

time 3: routes added

out:0 out:0 out:0 out:1
SIGGEN -----> A -----> B ---> Spk
In the end, the path should be powered on but it did not. At time 3,
"in" of SIGGEN and "out" of Spk did not propagate to their neighbors
because snd_soc_dapm_add_path() will not invalidate the paths if
the card has not instantiated (i.e. card->instantiated is false).

commit 54947cd64c1b8290f64bb2958e343c07270e3a58 upstream.
We've got a regression report for some Thinkpad models (at least
T570s) which shows the too low speaker output volume. The bisection
leaded to the commit 61fcf8ece9b6 ("ALSA: hda/realtek - Enable Thinkpad
Dock device for ALC298 platform"), and it's basically adding the two
pin configurations for the dock, and looks harmless.
The real culprit seems, though, that the DAC assignment for the
speaker pin is implicitly assumed on these devices, i.e. pin NID 0x14
to be coupled with DAC NID 0x03. When more pins are configured by the
commit above, the auto-parser changes the DAC assignment, and this
resulted in the regression.
As a workaround, just provide the fixed pin / DAC mapping table for
this Thinkpad fixup function. It's no generic solution, but the
problem itself is pretty much device-specific, so must be good
enough.

commit b51abed8355e5556886623b2772fa6b7598d2282 upstream.
Currently the PCM core calls snd_pcm_unlink() always unconditionally
at closing a stream. However, since snd_pcm_unlink() invokes the
global rwsem down, the lock can be easily contended. More badly, when
a thread runs in a high priority RT-FIFO, it may stall at spinning.
Basically the call of snd_pcm_unlink() is required only for the linked
streams that are already rare occasion. For normal use cases, this
code path is fairly superfluous.
As an optimization (and also as a workaround for the RT problem
above in normal situations without linked streams), this patch adds a
check before calling snd_pcm_unlink() and calls it only when needed.

commit b888a5f713e4d17faaaff24316585a4eb07f35b7 upstream.
Commit 67ec1072b053 ("ALSA: pcm: Fix rwsem deadlock for non-atomic PCM
stream") fixes deadlock for non-atomic PCM stream. But, This patch
causes antother stuck.
If writer is RT thread and reader is a normal thread, the reader
thread will be difficult to get scheduled. It may not give chance to
release readlocks and writer gets stuck for a long time if they are
pinned to single cpu.
The deadlock described in the previous commit is because the linux
rwsem queues like a FIFO. So, we might need non-FIFO writelock, not
non-block one.
My suggestion is that the writer gives reader a chance to be scheduled
by using the minimum msleep() instaed of spinning without blocking by
writer. Also, The *_nonblock may be changed to *_nonfifo appropriately
to this concept.
In terms of performance, when trylock is failed, this minimum periodic
msleep will have the same performance as the tick-based
schedule()/wake_up_q().
[ Although this has a fairly high performance penalty, the relevant
code path became already rare due to the previous commit ("ALSA:
pcm: Call snd_pcm_unlink() conditionally at closing"). That is, now
this unconditional msleep appears only when using linked streams,
and this must be a rare case. So we accept this as a quick
workaround until finding a more suitable one -- tiwai ]

commit d6b340d7cb33c816ef4abe8143764ec5ab14a5cc upstream.
The meddlesome gcc warns about the possible shortname string in
trident driver code:
sound/pci/trident/trident.c: In function ‘snd_trident_probe’:

strcat(card->shortname, card->driver);
It happens since gcc calculates the possible string size from
card->driver, but this can't be true since we did set the string just
before that, and they are much shorter.
For shutting it up, use the exactly same string set to card->driver
for strcat() to card->shortname, too.

commit e1a7bfe3807974e66f971f2589d4e0197ec0fced upstream.
The procedure for adding a user control element has some window opened
for race against the concurrent removal of a user element. This was
caught by syzkaller, hitting a KASAN use-after-free error.
This patch addresses the bug by wrapping the whole procedure to add a
user control element with the card->controls_rwsem, instead of only
around the increment of card->user_ctl_count.
This required a slight code refactoring, too. The function
snd_ctl_add() is split to two parts: a core function to add the
control element and a part calling it. The former is called from the
function for adding a user control element inside the controls_rwsem.
One change to be noted is that snd_ctl_notify() for adding a control
element gets called inside the controls_rwsem as well while it was
called outside the rwsem. But this should be OK, as snd_ctl_notify()
takes another (finer) rwlock instead of rwsem, and the call of
snd_ctl_notify() inside rwsem is already done in another code path.

associated private_value, but it extracts too much; the current code
extracts 8 bit values in bits 8-15, but this is a combination of two
nibbles (bits 8-11 and bits 12-15) for left and right shifts.
Due to the incorrect bits extraction, the actual shift may go beyond
the 32bit value, as spotted recently by UBSAN check:
UBSAN: Undefined behaviour in sound/pci/ac97/ac97_codec.c:836:7
shift exponent 68 is too large for 32-bit type 'int'
This patch fixes the shift value extraction by masking the properly
with 0x0f instead of 0xff.
