2017-01-11Revert "dm: tegra: Enable driver model for serial"Marcel Ziswiler
Migrating our BSPs towards mainline U-Boot I noticed it suddenly booting slower. With mainline Linux I noticed about a 1 to 2 second increase while booting downstream L4T takes 10 to 15 seconds longer! This reverts commit 858530a8c0a7ce7e573e513934804a00d6676813. 2017-01-11video: dcu: fix framebuffer to the end of memoryStefan Agner
Fix the framebuffer location to the very end of the available memory. This allows to remove the area from available memory for the kernel, which in turn allows to display the splash screen through the while Linux kernel boot process. 2017-01-11video: dcu: Add DCU support for Vybrid SoCStefan Agner

2017-01-11tools/env: fix environment alignment tests for block devicesMax Krummenacher
commit 183923d3e412500bdc597d1745e2fb6f7f679ec7 enforces that the environment must start at an erase block boundary. For block devices the sample fw_env.config does not mandate a erase block size for block devices. A missing setting defaults to the full env size. Depending on the environment location the alignment check now errors out for perfectly legal settings. Fix this by defaulting to the standard blocksize of 0x200 for environments stored in a block device. That keeps the fw_env.config files for block devices working even with that new check. 2017-01-11colibri_vf: synchronize/improve memory optionsStefan Agner
Synchronize initramfs related configuration options and improve memory layout. The memory layout with an offset of 16MiB allows to boot bigger kernels. With AUTO_ZRELADDR, which is pretty much the standard nowadays, the kernel relacates itself to PC masked with 0xf8000000 plus a text offset of 0x8000 (hence 0x80008000 for Vybrid). With a 16MiB offset from the start of memory and a 16MiB distance to the device-tree, we allow kernel up to ~16MiB. 2017-01-11colibri_vf: Read kernel and device tree from static UBI volumesSanchayan Maity
Our update scripts write the kernel and device tree in seperate UBI volumes. This allows to use a lot less UBI/UBIFS support in U-Boot, which should lower the risk of hitting bugs in this area. 2017-01-11board: colibri_imx7: avoid using DDR reserved for Cortex-M4Stefan Agner
Using linux,usable-memory the board code carves out 1MiB of memory for the Cortex-M4 core at the end of the 256MiB block. However, in case a board has 256MiB of memory (Colibri iMX7S), that is the area where U-Boot gets relocated to... Use board_get_usable_ram_top to avoid using that area as relocation target. 2017-01-11board: colibri_imx7: reserve DDR memory for Cortex-M4Stefan Agner
i.MX 7's Cortex-M4 core can run from DDR and uses DDR memory for the rpmsg communication. Both use cases need a fixed location of memory reserved. For the rpmsg use case the reserved area needs to be in sync with the kernel's hardcoded vring descriptor location. Use the linux,usable-memory property to carve out 1MB of memory in case the M4 core is running. Also make sure that the i.MX 7 specific rpmsg driver does not get loaded in case we do not carve out memory. 2017-01-11imx: add writebcb commandStefan Agner
Add writebcb command which creates a NAND Boot Configuration Block (BCB) at the beginning of the active flash device. The BCB stores the information for the SoC internal boot ROM where the application with a valid IVT header can be found on the NAND device. The first two argument of the command need an offset of the NAND device where the primary and secondary application can be found. Typically, U-Boot is the application which gets loaded by the boot ROM. Hence, the offset address need to be the address where U-Boot (u-boot.imx along with a 0x400 long prefix) is stored on the device. At least one location is mandatory. Currently only the FCB (Firmware Configuration Block) is written to the device. The DBBT (Discovered Bad Block Table) is optional and not created by writebcb currently. The threshold is set based on the truth: "A single 0 bit will lead to gf_len(13 or 14) bits 0 after the BCH do the ECC." For the sake of safe, we will set the threshold with half the gf_len, and do not make it bigger the ECC strength. [1] count the bitflips of the current ECC chunk, assume it is N. [2] if the (N <= threshold) is true, we continue to read out the page with ECC disabled. and we count the bitflips again, assume it is N2. (We read out the whole page, not just a chunk, this makes the check more strictly, and make the code more simple.) [3] if the (N2 <= threshold) is true again, we can regard this is a erased page. This is because a real erased page is full of 0xFF(maybe also has several bitflips), while a page contains the 0xFF data will definitely has many bitflips in the ECC parity areas. [4] if the [3] fails, we can regard this is a page filled with the '0xFF' data. " Signed-off-by: Peng Fan <peng.fan@nxp.com>

2017-01-11MLK-11718-2: mtd: nand: change the BCH layout setting for large oob NANDHan Xu
The cod change updated the NAND driver BCH ECC layout algorithm to support large oob size NAND chips(oob > 1024 bytes). Current implementation requires each chunk size larger than oob size so the bad block marker (BBM) can be guaranteed located in data chunk. The ECC layout always using the unbalanced layout(Ecc for both meta and Data0 chunk), but for the NAND chips with oob larger than 1k, the driver cannot support because BCH doesn’t support GF 15 for 2K chunk. The change keeps the data chunk no larger than 1k and adjust the ECC strength or ECC layout to locate the BBM in data chunk. General idea for large oob NAND chips is 1.Try all ECC strength from the minimum value required by NAND spec to the maximum one that works, any ECC makes the BBM locate in data chunk can be chosen. 2.If none of them works, using separate ECC for meta, which will add one extra ecc with the same ECC strength as other data chunks. This extra ECC can guarantee BBM located in data chunk, of course, we need to check if oob can afford it. Signed-off-by: Han Xu <b45815@freescale.com>

2017-01-11colibri_imx7/colibri_imx6/apalis_imx6: limit bootm memoryStefan Agner
Limit memory used for relocation of FDT or initrd. This is required to make sure that relocated artifacts are within lowmem. If fdt_high or initrd_high are not set, U-Boot automatically relocates artifacts to the end of memory. But this area won't be part of lowmem and hence will not be accessible by the kernel during early boot. With VM split set to 2G/2G (i.MX default), only the 2GB Apalis iMX6 is affected by that issue. With VM split set to 3G/1G (ARM default) also modules with 1GB of memory are affected. With the latter the amount of lowmem will be 760MiB. The value must also not exceed available memory! 2017-01-11toradex apalis/colibri: use common USB product id fallbackStefan Agner
All modules use the common g_dnl_bind_fixup implementaton which calculates the PID according to product id (read from the config block) plus offset of 0x4000. In case there is no config block support (e.g. SPL) or in case the config block is not readable, fall back to a generic product id (product id 0, which can be interpreted as "Unknown Module").
