update.sh: use command instead of which
Use "command" instead of "which" for sanity checks. This is preferable
to several reasons, see:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/592620/check-if-a-program-exists-from-a-bash-script
Also always use or (||) syntax to avoid bash script exits. Tested to
be working on Ubuntu, Fedora and Arch Linux.
